The Workers' Compensation Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of self-insured workers' compensation claims. This role involves leading a team of claims administration staff, case managers and specialists, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices to optimise claims processing and outcomes.

What you will be doing 

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop the workers' compensation team to enhance performance, productivity, and morale.
  • Claims Management: Oversee the handling of workers' compensation claims from inception to resolution, ensuring timely and fair processing.
  • Compliance: Ensure all claims are managed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Workflow management: Analyse claims and call data to identify trends, and develop strategies to improve the self-insurance program.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders (HR, Legal, Safety) and external partners (medical providers, insurance brokers) to facilitate effective claims management.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to team members on best practices, regulatory changes, and company policies related to workers' compensation.
  • Risk Management: Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve workplace safety through data analysis and collaboration with customer safety teams.

The Skills you will bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field desirable
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in workers' compensation claims management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws and regulations, particularly in a self-insured context.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills; proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
