Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Workers Compensation team at Marsh. This role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Workers Compensation Placement Broker provides expert broking support for workers’ compensation programs across Australia. You will work closely with senior brokers and clients to develop tailored placement strategies, negotiate with insurers and reinsurers, and ensure compliant policy administration while contributing to product development and market positioning.

We will count on you to:

  • Analyse client risk exposures and workers’ compensation portfolios to recommend cost-effective placement and risk-transfer strategies aligned with client objectives
  • Prepare clear underwriting submissions, renewal proposals, quotations and placement documentation that articulate risk profile, coverage options and financial implications
  • Respond promptly to client queries, resolve issues to maintain satisfaction and escalate complex matters when required
  • Support the design, development and market positioning of new brokerage products and programs to secure new projects and expand service offerings
  • Assist senior brokers and large employers with complex multi-state policies, self-insurance or managed fund structures, bespoke arrangements and contractual reviews
  • Monitor market conditions, insurer appetite and pricing trends, translating market intelligence into practical placement advice and briefing junior brokers

What you need to have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian workers’ compensation legislation across jurisdictions and premium determination methods including experience/retrospective rating and loss-sensitive schemes
  • Experience with self-insurance, managed fund/nominal insurer arrangements, excess layers and reinsurance placements
  • Proficiency in claims exposure assessment, financial analysis and interpretation of financial statements and industry metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, time management and conflict resolution skills
