The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.

About the role

As Workday Solution Architect within HRIT, you will be partnering across HR business partners to provide HR system solutions helping AIG to fully leverage Workday's capabilities and implement solutions with a primary focus on Workday Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking and Compensation modules, that achieve desired business objectives. The role will work closely with a vendor staffed HRIT managed service team on delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Be the Workday solution and technical subject matter expert for payroll and compensation modules by providing oversight of the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex Workday enabled solutions, aligning the technical solutions to business objectives, and ensure that design fit within governance standards

  • Elicit business requirements including leading solution development processes through continuous and iterative solution planning, scoping, and documentation, development review, and HR partner discussions

  • Leading or supporting the payroll workstream during Workday implementations for connected payroll systems, configuring the system to meet specific client needs, and developing functional specifications

  • Providing ongoing support for Workday payroll processes, including regular and special processes, legal and regulatory reports, and year-end activities

  • Designing and configuring Workday Absence & Time Tracking (e.g. absence plans, time off accruals, work schedules)

  • Designing and configuring Workday Core Compensation including compensation plans, eligibility rules, and business processes

  • Research and analyze existing business processes and evaluate alternative methods to recommend the most efficient and cost-effective solution for system design

  • The ideal candidate will also have solution and technical subject matter expertise for the Time and Absence module providing oversight of the design, implementation, and maintenance, aligning technical solutions to business objectives.

  • Identify opportunities for new technologies and creative solutions to serve our HR Partners including researching Workday Community and industry best practices to keep abreast of new functionality and tools

  • Review current configuration and investigate how to improve processes for the long term

  • Identify and participate in continuous learning opportunities

  • Work on projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis and may assist in other initiatives as required

  • Build strong relationships with business to understand their requirements and translate into functional design

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology required; Master’s Degree or related field such as Computer Science preferred

  • 10 + years of Workday experience; professional services or consulting experience strongly preferred

  • Workday certification in Workday Payroll, Absence & Tracking and Core Compensation modules is preferred

  • Prior experience in implementing, supporting Workday Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking and Compensation functionality

  • In-depth knowledge of the Workday payroll module, including configuration, functionality, and integrations

  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and best practices

  • Experience working with global payroll providers

  • Strong understanding of Workday core compensation module, including compensation plans, eligibility rules, and business processes

  • Experience with Workday implementation methodologies, data conversion, and system integrations

  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering secure solution

  • Self-starter who is proactive, motivated, and resourceful individual who takes ownership of their work, embraces challenges, and consistently strives for excellence

  • Ability to think strategically and drive business outcomes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated by cross functional team engagement, electronic communication, and program/process documentation

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development around Workday new features, automation and AI
