Job Summary: You will serve as a WOOD WORKER in the SUPPLY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Major Duties:

  • You will prepare containers with appropriate blocking, bracing for shipment of both general cargo and hazardous materials such as flammables, caustics, and corrosives.
  • You will be required to fabricate shipping containers to military specifications, for all materials including hazardous materials.
  • You will construct a full range of standard and nonstandard containers requiring complex bracing such as assemblies, aircraft parts, radar antennas, engines, and calibrated equipment.
  • You will use a variety of hand tools, machinery and mechanized equipment while performing duties associated with this position such as wood working machinery, radial arm saws, band saws, drill presses, generators, drills, screw/nail guns, and more.
  • You will conduct regular inventories of all materials and supplies needed.

Select the appropriate tools, machines, equipment, and work methodology in order to construct custom built items having complex features or special requirements for sturdiness, serviceability, size, fit, and safety; 3. Utilize a knowledge of transportation/woodworking rules and regulations for preparation, packaging, and shipping requirements for all materials, including all hazardous materials; 4. Determine or recommend the extent of repairs required or construction alternatives necessary to modify or rework containers. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
