Major Duties:

  • You will work with internal organizations, state and federal wildlife agencies, and university researchers to collect biological data necessary for the preparation and implementation of natural resources management plans.
  • You will identify fish, wildlife, and program requirements that require contractual support.
  • You will make recommends and prepare documents for habitat improvement, species management, outdoor recreation, and nuisance wildlife control projects in consideration of biological needs, project standards, and the needs of other resources.
  • You will provide leadership and supervision of field crews to implement projects and serves as technical coordinator for contracts involving biological surveys.
  • You will develop plans for information and education activities in wildlife conservation.
  • You will be responsible for assigned areas of public relations activities, such as speaking at meetings and participating in field trips.
  • You will manage daily changes to MCB Quantico website to communicate current hunting schedules, trout stocking, volunteer program work schedules, and other advisories to base patrons.
  • You will gather, compile, and analyze biological data to determine habitat needs and requirements of plant and animal species, including threatened and endangered species.

Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying principles and concepts of wildlife habitat management, fisheries and wildlife surveys, wetland delineations, animal damage control, threatened and endangered species management, and natural resources research study design and data analysis. OR I have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.
