Job Summary: This position is located on USDA Forest Service unit Pacific Southwest Region. This position to involve the development and implementation of plans and programs in fire and all hazard management risk management in preparedness, suppression, fuels management, fire equipment development and standards, and fire prevention programs. Major Duties:
Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Basic Requirement: GW-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GW-11 grade level. Examples include providing input on developing and implementing risk management plans, policies, programs and guidelines for wildland fire safety and health programs; assisting in analyzing and reviewing accident/fatality reports, injuries and illnesses resulting from fire operations; assisting in conducting fire safety training. GW-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GW-12 grade level. Examples include assisting in developing and implementing risk management plans, policies, programs and guidelines for wildland fire safety and health programs; assisting in evaluating incident management operations, analyzing and reviewing accident/fatality reports, injuries and illnesses resulting from fire operations; developing and conducting fire safety training. Selective Placement Factors The position must have experience serving as a Unit (Forest Level) Fire Program Manager or in a Command & General Staff position on a Type 1 or 2 Incident Management Team. FIREFIGHTER RETIREMENT COVERAGE: This is a secondary firefighter position under 5 USC 8336 (CSRS) and 8412(d) (FERS). Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. There is no age limit for entry into secondary positions. Firefighter retirement coverage of the incumbent depends upon his or her individual work history. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
