Job Summary and Responsibilities:
PASTEURIZER RESPONSIBILTIES
Must possess a valid California state pasteurizers’ license. Safely - Set up, operate, shut down and CIP the HTST’s in a satisfactory and quality manner. Protects the public health by operating pasteurizers using approved procedures. Runs quality tests on products, such as acidity, PH and total solids, and determines PDB’s, moistures, CIP titrations, etc. Responsible for maintaining product quality, sanitation of equipment, and housekeeping standards. Assures proper completion of recording charts and production paperwork. Follow proper Silo, tank and lines rotation and CIP procedures.
FIILTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely - Set up, operate, shut down and CIP the filtration equipment in a satisfactory and quality manner, maintaining required solids. Grade and test milk products supplying and discharging from filtration equipment. Runs quality tests on products, such as acidity, PH and total solids, and determines PDB’s, moistures, CIP titrations, etc. Follow and monitor proper CIP and cleaning procedures for the equipment. Maintain product quality, sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of area. Assures proper completion of recording charts and production paperwork. Follow proper Silo, tank and lines rotation and CIP procedures
RECEIVING / LOADOUT/ RO RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely - Set up, operate, shut down and CIP the filtration equipment in a satisfactory and quality manner, maintaining required solids. Tests on products, such as acidity, PH and total solids, and determines PDB’s, moistures, CIP titrations, etc. Follow and monitor proper CIP and cleaning procedures for the equipment. Tanks, lines …etc. Maintain product quality, sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of area. Assures proper completion of recording charts and production paper work. Follow proper Silo, tank and lines rotation and CIP procedures Must be able to attain a pasteurizer’s license. Receive and load out liquid whey products in a safe and sanitary manor. Follow plant loading and receiving policies.
WHEY EVAPORATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely – set up, operate, shut down and CIP the evaporators in a satisfactory, economical and quality manner, maintaining required solids and chemical concentration and pH targets. Grade and test milk products feeding and discharging from the evaporator. Follow and monitor proper CIP and cleaning procedures and also housekeeping duties of the area. Responsible for filling crystallizers and setting the appropriate cooling rates for the crystallization of whole whey, deproteinized whey and Lactose in preparation for drying.
Waste Water Operator Responsibilities
Generally responsible for the accurate and efficient evaporation of waste liquid product and operation of membrane equipment. Run quality tests on products, run PH test if required, determine moistures, and sediments, etc. Interpret the ongoing status of the equipment’s operation for maintaining product quality, sanitation of equipment, and housekeeping standards. Follow work instructions and cleaning procedures related to evaporators and membrane equipment. Start up, run and shut down the evaporators and membrane equipment. Maintain proper parameters to achieve optimum moistures / solids in the end liquids product. Complete all required documentation and adequately inform other operators and supervisors of issues.
Verifies chemicals used for CIP’s and titrates washes to determine chemical concentration
Dryer Operator Responsibilities for the MSD, TFD and Lactose Dryer
Generally responsible for the accurate and efficient drying of liquid product. Runs quality tests on powder products, run’s PH test if required determines powder moistures, and sediments, etc. Responsible for maintaining product quality, sanitation of equipment, and housekeeping standards. Follows work instructions and cleaning procedures related to drying liquid product Starts up, runs and shuts down the Dryers. Coordinates proper atomization pressures and installs appropriate nozzle orifice disc and swirl chamber to maintain optimum powder moistures in the main chamber and finished product. Coordinates feed pump rate, condensed total solids, inlet/exit air temperature, and dryer pressures to maintain optimum powder moistures in the main chamber. Interpret the ongoing status of the equipment’s operational status. Complete all required documentation and adequately inform other operators and supervisors. Fills de-foaming tank with appropriate chemical. Fills lecithin tank when using MSD for Instantized powder and verifies tank temperature. Changes Baghouse socks in the MSD as needed Changes Pre-filters, Pocket filters, and HEPPA filters in the Dryers as needed. Inspects sifter screens on the MSD as needed Verifies chemicals used for CIP’s and titrates washes to determine chemical concentration. Properly maintain fill, weighs, seals, labels, and product codes to comply with Saputo standards, requirements and specifications. Responsible for the inspection of bag seals. Maintain accurate records as required by Saputo policies. Effectively and safely make minor adjustments and / or trouble shooting equipment being operated. Properly set up the production lines for CIP and production.
Whey Packaging & Robot Room Operator Responsibilities
Properly maintain fill, weighs, seals, labels, and product codes to comply with Saputo standards, requirements and specifications. Responsible for the inspection of bag seals. Perform weights checks and metal detector checks to assure consistency and compliance to Saputo standards and policies Responsible for accurately taking samples. Responsible for inspecting finished product bags for cleanliness, damage, foreign matter, etc. Properly calibrate the filling scales. Properly perform magnet checks. Responsible for reworking bags and / or totes that are unacceptable to our customers for any reason. Maintain accurate records as required by Saputo policies. Effectively and safely make minor adjustments and / or trouble shooting the Carousel. Perform daily cleaning of all equipment and floors in the Avapac, Tote Filler and Robot areas Responsible to cover breaks on the Carousel, Inline, Robot, and Tote Filler. Properly set up the production lines for CIP and production Responsible for the CIP of the powder conveying lines
Properly set up the production lines for CIP and production. Responsible for the CIP of the powder conveying lines. Safely & efficiently operator Avapac Fillers, bag Sealers and Robotic & Palletizers. Monitor process parameters and react as required. Safety & effectively troubleshoot mechanical issues; with Maintenance assistance as needed. Safety operator a forklift – must be certified before operation. Maintain quality packaging to Saputo standards. Comply with all quality system and regulatory requirements. Perform accurate documentation of process as required. Communicate effectively with downstream customers and upstream suppliers. Clean Packaging & Robot Area during down time. Perform Magnet checks. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Working Lead Responsibilities
Plans and schedules daily operations of the plant to make the most efficient and effective use of personnel and equipment in producing the desired quality and quantity of products. Recommends changes to manufacturing procedures when necessary to maintain product specifications, minimize waste, improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs. Responsible for training of hourly employees in equipment operation, manufacturing procedures, sanitation, product loss prevention and safe work habits and procedures. Verifies that all products meet specifications and quality standards before shipment to the customer. Reviews equipment, process checklists and reports for accuracy and compliance with operating standards and takes action to correct any deficiencies. Maintains neat, orderly and clean plant facilities, work areas and equipment to conform with safety, quality and sanitary standards. Actively participates in company safety program by enforcing compliance with all safety rules and regulations and takes prompt corrective action concerning any potential safety hazard. Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works effectively with plant Supervision, USDA, State and other agency inspectors. Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills. Understands and follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Promptly reports any unsafe working conditions. Demonstrates integrity in all business activities with employees, visitors and vendors. Complies with all of Saputo’s food safety, quality programs, and regulatory requirements. Reliable and consistent attendance and available to work any shift, overtime or holidays as required; may be required to cover the absence of key personnel. Performs other duties as may be required.

Specific job selection criteria:
Must possess or be able to pass State Pasteurizer License Exam.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical abilities and understanding of dryers;
Computer proficiency
Good communication skills
Pay Range: $32.50 - $38.09
