About the Position

  • Provide polite, friendly, and accurate customer service

  • Maintain safe, playable surfaces, including infield skin, baselines, pitching mounds, home plate areas, and warning tracks; perform dragging, watering, mowing, edging, and trimming

  • Paint and mark fields, set bases and pitching mounds to proper dimensions, and handle setup/cleanup for practices, games, tournaments, and events

  • Perform general grounds maintenance, repairs, and janitorial duties for fields, fencing, amenities, common areas, and parking lots

  • Conduct park patrols and inspections to ensure public safety and report hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors

  • Assist in deciding field playability based on weather and field conditions

  • Exercise initiative and decision-making to ensure customer satisfaction

         

Work Hours:  Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent

  • One (1) year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds

  • Valid Florida driver's license by time of hire

Preferred "BONUS" Qualifications: 

  • General knowledge of methods and techniques, of prepping and maintaining athletic field turf and adjunct facilities

  • Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS)

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Examples include fertilizer bags and other various items, throughout the year

  • Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds. However, if equipment or another team member is unavailable, this position will require lifting by hand

Subject to Passing Substance Screening:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years


 

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Rate: $18.21/hr (Step 1)
Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience
