Maintain safe, playable surfaces, including infield skin, baselines, pitching mounds, home plate areas, and warning tracks; perform dragging, watering, mowing, edging, and trimming
Paint and mark fields, set bases and pitching mounds to proper dimensions, and handle setup/cleanup for practices, games, tournaments, and events
Perform general grounds maintenance, repairs, and janitorial duties for fields, fencing, amenities, common areas, and parking lots
Conduct park patrols and inspections to ensure public safety and report hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors
Assist in deciding field playability based on weather and field conditions
Exercise initiative and decision-making to ensure customer satisfaction
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalent
One (1) year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds
Valid Florida driver's license by time of hire
Preferred "BONUS" Qualifications:
General knowledge of methods and techniques, of prepping and maintaining athletic field turf and adjunct facilities
Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS)
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions
Physical Demands:
Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Examples include fertilizer bags and other various items, throughout the year
Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds. However, if equipment or another team member is unavailable, this position will require lifting by hand
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years
Starting Pay Rate: $18.21/hr (Step 1)
Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience
