About the Opportunity
Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we're aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll walk alongside people in our community on their mental health and wellbeing journey, offering guidance through a range of person-centred supports and services. You’ll help individuals connect with what matters most to them, whether it’s achieving personal goals, fostering healing, finding social inclusion, or strengthening their sense of belonging.
This is a unique opportunity that exists with the goal of making sure everyone in our community is supported, included, and empowered.
Key elements of your new role will include:
About You
You have personal lived experience with mental health challenges, psychological distress, and/or substance use, and you’ve navigated your own recovery journey. Through this experience, along with formal study or training, you’ve gained valuable insight that allows you to support others with empathy and understanding.
You share your story in a safe, respectful, and empowering way; helping others to feel seen, heard, and understood. You instil hope and support people in building connections and reinforce the strengths they already bring to their own recovery journey.
If your lived experience is at the heart of how you connect with and support others in our community, we’d love to get to know you!
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary, and easy to access, with no referral required. Importantly, these new services will be delivered on the basis of ‘how can we help? and a ‘no wrong door’ approach, focused on giving choice and control over how people in our community want to receive support.
This service aims to make it easier for community members to access the support they need, closer to home and family, carers, and support networks.
Most importantly, Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are safe spaces for everyone.
What we will offer you…
