YOU

As the Welding Quality Specialist the Riverside Branch, you will manage the development, execution, and continuous improvement of welding processes, welding quality systems, and inspection programs. You own welding standards, testing, and inspection methods that ensure consistent weld integrity across the operation. You are a technical expert and a visible leader — driving welding quality through process discipline, training, and strong collaboration with production and quality teams. Your success will be measured by weld quality performance, adherence to standards, effectiveness of inspection programs, and the capability of the team.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Welding Quality & Inspection (30%)

  • Lead, develop, and sustain comprehensive welding quality and inspection programs aligned with Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) requirements and applicable standards, including OSHA, ASME, AWS, and NBIC.
  • Maintain accountability for all welding activities, ensuring full compliance with defined inspection requirements and quality expectations.
  • Oversee welding inspection and testing outcomes, ensuring risks, non‑conformances, and systemic issues are proactively identified and addressed.
  • Provide strategic oversight and support for welder qualification and certification activities.

Welding Testing & NDT (25%)

  • Own and direct welding testing activities to validate weld performance, integrity, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) programs, including ultrasonic testing methods.
  • Analyze inspection and testing data to identify defects, trends, and root causes, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure robust documentation, traceability, and audit readiness for all welding testing and inspection records.

Process Development and Continuous Improvement (20%)

  • Lead the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of welding processes used in production.
  • Evaluate, standardize, and govern welding parameters for Pulse, Spray, Short Arc, and Flux Core processes.
  • Drive consistent and reliable performance improvements across welding operations through process control.

Welding Standards & QMS Integration (15%)

  • Establish, maintain, and enforce welding process standards across operations.
  • Ensure welding practices are fully aligned with internal standards, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Integrate welding processes, controls, and documentation into the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain documentation for welding procedures, inspections and testing.

Technical Leadership, Training & SOP Development (10%)

  • Lead and deliver technical training related to welding processes, inspection methods, and quality standards to ensure consistent understanding and application across teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and govern Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for welding and inspection activities.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership and direction for welding quality and standards, partnering closely with production and quality teams to ensure consistent weld performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding processes, welding inspection, or manufacturing quality
  • Strong knowledge of welding methods, including pulse, spray, short arc, and flux core
  • Experience with welding testing and inspection practices
  • Familiarity with non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods, including ultrasonic testing
  • AWS and AISC required certifications
  • Experience supporting or leading welding quality programs in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear.  Must be comfortable with repetitive movements of hands/arms, holding positions, stooping and bending.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with proper equipment.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to bright/dim light, heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, electrical shock, dust, and toxic/caustic chemicals.

 

TRAVEL

This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Riverside, CA.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$81,100 - $129,800 / year
