Who will you be working with?

In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative production team in a dynamic manufacturing environment, working alongside welders, assemblers, and technicians to ensure every component meets rigorous quality and safety standards. You’ll have daily interaction with your shift supervisor for guidance and task assignments, and you’ll coordinate with departments such as Quality, Safety, and Shipping & Receiving. Additionally, you’ll partner closely with quality inspectors to confirm weld integrity and compliance with specifications.

How will you make the difference

Welder II is a skilled trades position responsible for performing intermediate-level welding and related tasks as part of the re-manufacturing process of components. This role requires proficiency in standard welding techniques under moderate supervision, the ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and welding symbols, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Monday – Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Flexibility to work overtime on Fridays and Saturdays may be required.

What we want to know about you:

Minimum Qualifications and requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High School Diploma or GED (Technical school certification preferred).
  • Successful completion of MIG/GMAW training course/program OR minimum 1–2 years of welding experience.
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead).
  • Ability to pass Qualification/Certification after 180 days following AWS-D15.1 Guidelines.
  • Willingness to perform general assembly work in addition to welding.
  • Ability to read and follow simple to moderately complex blueprints and manufacturing instructions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of welding techniques (MIG/GMAW required; TIG and flux-cored preferred but not mandatory).
  • Understanding of steel and aluminum properties and how heat affects them.
  • Ability to use grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and basic fabrication tools safely.
  • Familiarity with inspection and measurement tools (calipers, tape measures).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Perform welding operations on a variety of components using established procedures and specifications.
  • Weld metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or SOP using electric arc-welding equipment.
  • Apply GMAW processes and applications to join materials of varying types and thicknesses according to site specifications.
  • Assist with disassembly, assembly, cleaning, requalifying, and rework of components as needed.
  • Use tools such as weld torches, plasma cutters, grinders, sanders, chippers, drill press, band saw, lathe, spot welder, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with defined quality standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to all PPE requirements for the Welder II position.
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead).
  • Maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to cross-train and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required PPE (respirator, weld jackets, gloves, hood, eye protection).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, including full shifts.
  • Frequent walking throughout the production area.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Requires manual dexterity for handling welding tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use required PPE, including respirator, welding jacket, gloves, hood, ear protection, and eye protection.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed in shop environment that is non-temperature-controlled production environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and other environmental factors.
 

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is 26.50/hr.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
