Position Overview:
Join the Finning Canada family, part of the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer. We are currently looking for dedicated Welders who will be responsible for a variety of welding related duties in a service orientated environment. This position is based in the Fort McMurray Oil Sands region at the Fort McKay Shop.
This position will work a 14x14, 12-hour continuous shift rotation. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and possess your Journeyperson Welder certification then you are exactly who we are looking for!
Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Ensure jobs are planned, organized and all required parts and tooling are accessible
- Minimize downtime and maintain production requirements as scheduled
- Examine and diagnose machine defects, repair damage and cracks when necessary
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Maintain safe work practices
- Assist in training, directing and development of team members on the job
- Other work assigned as required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Journeyperson Welder Technician Certification
- Certified in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- CWB tickets will be considered an asset
- Individual will be highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing will be necessary for successful candidacy
- Line boring experience will be considered an asset
- Previous field experience will be considered an asset
Notes:
- This position is located at our Fort McKay branch on a 14x14 continuous shift (camp provided)
- Any future shift changes will be made in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement
