Job Summary: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and MRTFB, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot. This position performs welding duties on a wide range of chemical and conventional ammunition renovation and demilitarization equipment.

Qualifications: Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Welder ~ without more than normal supervision. Experience performing the duties of a welder using complex instruments to plan job or work requirements, layout, setup, select materials, and complete work assignments, using basic welding techniques. Work on tools and equipment including preventive maintenance, grinding, and setting tools. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling that may be done in awkward and cramped positions. Frequently handles objects weighing from 20 to 45 pounds in setting up work and equipment and in completing assignments. Incumbent seeks assistance from coworkers, operates lifts, or overhead hoist for items in excess of 45 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is done indoors and outdoors, sometimes in bad weather; in areas that are noisy, dirty, and smokey. Welding involves exposure to fumes; infrared and ultraviolet radiation; heat and flying sparks; the glare of torches and heated materials; the possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, burns, and broken bones; and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects. The majority of work is performed on concrete floors or as required on or in equipment being repaired. Subject to contamination from unusually hazardous agents and to potential explosions while welding equipment in designated hazard areas or locations. Danger to self due to exposure to unusually hazardous agents is compensated for by premium pay; no credit has been given this element in establishing the grade level for this job.
