Overview
The Water System IT Trainer provides, performs, and conducts training for new and current users on system and modules used in the management and care of the Dallas Water Utility. Creates and prepares curriculum and delivers instruction as appropriate.
Essential Functions
1 Creates, conducts, and delivers role-based training to end users in the Dallas Water Utility regarding technology systems and equipment, either in a group setting or a one-on-one situation; provides competent education and training to ensure effective service delivery, maintenance, and general care.
2 Designs and develops specific material as it relates to a particular audience, system, module or any combination of factors.
3 Creates and utilizes end-user assessment testing to determine effectiveness of training and improve materials and methods.
4 Processes security user access forms and ensures that all necessary training occurs to limit security issues or system discrepancies.
5 Collaborates with Water System IT Analyst to assure assigned modules instructions are current and up to date with changes in policies, procedures, or department standards.
6 Delivers periodic refresher and additional training for users as required or as requested and basic system course for all new users.
7 Assists project management with system upgrades and end-users troubleshoot technical issues.
8 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of system and modules creating training materials and curriculum.
2 Knowledge of water system and related infrastructure.
3 Ability to develop curriculum and effectively deliver presentations.
4 Ability to communicate and understand technical standards and principles.
5 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
6 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in an education, social science, business or public administration field.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in education, instructional design/development, training, and/or the development of informal education programs which must have involved curriculum development.
EQUIVALENCIES:
High school or GED plus seven (7) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
Associate degree in any field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
Master's degree or higher in a specified field plus one (1) year of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
