At McAdams, our Green Stormwater Infrastructure Practice specializes in designs that improve water quality while supporting growth and development of high profile projects. Green stormwater infrastructure is utilized in private, municipal, and non-profit markets to manage stormwater within the landscape and amenities of the built environment.

Position Purpose

Provide technical expertise to take a lead role in the implementation of projects and resolve complex design challenges. Work closely with Project Managers and Designers to ensure the production of high-quality deliverables. Provide coaching and mentorship to Engineers and Designers across the GSI Team. Technical Managers will coordinate with a larger multidisciplinary project team to deliver a variety of projects for both public and private clients. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead a production team, provide resource management, resolve both technical and design problems, coach and mentor design professionals, and work collaboratively with all team members on all aspects of project execution
  • Provide technical assistance to all types of projects within the group.
  • Be on the forefront of an evolving green design market; developing innovative environmental protection strategies
  • Working on stormwater designs, retrofits, construction drawings, and watershed planning studies.
  • Interact with reviewers and other permitting entities to advance technical project components.
  • Design and produce civil engineering documents (site plans, construction drawings, design reports, specifications)
  • Collaborate daily with Planners and Landscape Architects to enhance stormwater designs and integrate stormwater into site architecture which reduce flooding and/or improve water quality
  • Work with a number of client types including residential and commercial development, campuses, multimodal transportation, greenways, and parks
  • Field work and site visits from study or design through construction

Qualifications

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 7+ years of design experience in water resources, civil engineering or GSI
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with hydrograph routing and H+H modeling
  • Understanding of common stormwater regulations and permitting requirements
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with strong drive to better oneself, project team, and community
  • Ability and desire to be licensed within 4 months
