The Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is looking for a Watch Engineer who fully embodies our values, shares a passion for excellence, and infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. Watch Engineer, you will be accountable for shaping the client experience by providing exceptional service in support of our world-renowned hotel. BASIC PURPOSE:

The Watch Engineer is responsible for providing service and repairs for all electrical, plumbing, gas, fire and safety, HVAC, refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating issues. The person will be the acting Engineering Manager in absence of the Director/Assistant Director of Engineering. We are looking for individuals who have a minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position. NYC Refrigeration license and standpipe/sprinkler C.O.O. from Fire Department are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operating, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.
• Assist in other equipment incidental to the operation of the building as directed by management.
• Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
• Complete all assigned work in a safe, complete and timely fashion.
• Use all safety precautions at all times when using tools, chemicals, ladders, or other potentially dangerous equipment or supplies.
• Carry out repairs to work orders or room inspection reports submitted by departments.
• Ensure a clean, neat and organized work area.
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels and Residences.
• Handle and report an accident immediately, not matter how minor.
• Respond to all emergency safety or security conditions such as fires, power failures, etc. and respond properly.
• Comply with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in Employee Handbook.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Respond to guest calls regarding maintenance of rooms and equipment in rooms or public area in a timely manner.
• Clean all stations in Engineering, plumbing stoppages and maintain an organized department, hotel and residences.
• Repair an assortment of items brought to the shop by other departments.
• Participate in energy conservation programs in the hotel and residences.
• Maintain logs for all work performed while on duty.
• Perform preventative maintenance on hotel machinery, residences, guest rooms and public areas.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Install or relocate any additional equipment or existing equipment when necessary.
• Assist with energy conservation programs in the hotel.
• Assist in the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for renovations, outlet additions and associated equipment and electrical set ups for exhibits including maintenance of those set-ups.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Education: High school education or equivalent experience
• Experience: 3-5 years experience in a similar position and presently holds a Watch Certificate
• NYC Refrigeration license and standpipe/sprinkler C.O.F. from Fire Department are required as well.
• Additional Technical School certification is preferred.
• Prior New York experience is preferred.
• Skills and Abilities:  Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance.
• Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job
• Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment.
• Ability to read and speak and write English
• Travel required: None
• Hours required: Eight hour shift; scheduled days and times may vary based on need.
