Wash Bay Team Lead

The Wash Bay Team Lead is responsible for supporting the company’s overall performance by contributing to driver satisfaction and operational efficiency within the Maintenance department. This position provides day-to-day leadership in the wash bay, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality standards are consistently met. The Team Lead works closely with the Shop Supervisor to coordinate priorities, support team members, and maintain a clean, efficient, and service-focused wash bay environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Drivers are greeted in a courteous professional manner and accommodated within the priority schedule.  Ensure someone is always at the wash bay.
  • Reefer Washouts as required; Cold Wall Tracking Form completed and filed.
  • Wash Tractors/Trailers & grease fifth wheel, Wash Bay Log completed and filed.
  • Winter Yard Check: Cycle starting Trucks and APUs and Boosting Tractors as required.
  • Keep shop, wash bay and surrounding areas clean and presentable.
  • Available Tractors are inspected, clean and ready; Log is completed & filed.
  • Thoroughly wash power train areas of Retiring Trucks for inspections and report status.
  • De-decal Retiring Trailers and report status.
  • Ensure consumables, wands, panels, etc. are stocked.
  • Recognize and Report faults, fixes, malfunctions for correction and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate status updates with shop supervisor consistently.
  • Licensing books & plates, moving trucks, general building and yard maintenance, handling scrap etc.

  • Other projects, tasks, initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 1, 3, or 5).
  • Strong customer service mindset with professional communication skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Have a strong sense of priority planning.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding, outdoor/industrial environment.

Working Environment/Conditions:

  • Shop/Wash Bay Environment.
  • Exposure to environmental conditions, extreme outdoor temperature and direct sunlight.
  • Exposure to Dust & Chemicals.
  • Ability to climb in and out of commercial motor vehicles and trailers frequently.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to routinely lift items weighing up to 40 kilograms.
  • Ability to hook/unhook trailers which involves lateral pulling and twisting/bending to lower trailer dollies.
  • Ability to slide trailer axle, which involves lateral pulling on an occasional basis. (once every 1-3 days).
  • Minimal amount of exposure to vibration and jarring when operating equipment.
