Warehouse Assistant Manager
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all warehouse and food and beverage distribution operations at Rogers Centre, including receiving, storage, inventory management, cost control, and coordination of warehouse and commissary staff. The role plays an integral part in pre-event preparation, event operations oversight, post-event breakdown, and inventory accuracy while maintaining regulatory compliance and a safe, organized work environment.

The Role
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage pre-event preparation and setup processes while adhering to established event time schedules, delegating work to Supervisors and lead staff as necessary.
- Provide supervision and a consistent presence during events, observing operations, monitoring service delivery, and proactively addressing operational issues and gaps in service.
- Manage inventory and cost-control initiatives by coordinating accurate counts, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to minimize loss and waste.
- Collaborate with functional departments to order food and beverage products for service, including responding to requests for special orders and last-minute changes.
- Oversee receiving, inspection, documentation, and proper storage of all incoming products, ensuring FIFO rotation, product segregation, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Coordinate the distribution and delivery of products to concession stands, vending locations, premium areas, and other service points as required.
- Manage a smooth event breakdown process, ensuring efficient recovery of product, equipment, and supplies and returning warehouse and commissary areas to proper standards.
- Ensure warehouse and commissary staff are well-trained in service, safety, and Legends policies and procedures through ongoing coaching and formal training.
- Ensure compliance with employee break and meal periods in accordance with labour regulations and company policy.
- Communicate proactively with internal departments, attend meetings, and lead briefings as appropriate to ensure operational alignment and information flow.
- Promote positive employee relations and engage in effective labour relations practices, proactively handling employee concerns and issues.
- Identify and rectify hazardous situations to eliminate risk to the organization and operation; take safety precautions and escalate as necessary.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with Legends policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as applicable government, regulatory, and accrediting standards and codes.
- Maintain an aesthetically appealing and well-organized warehouse and commissary environment with properly maintained equipment, service stands, appliances, and storage areas.

- Strong supervisory and leadership capability with the ability to direct, mentor, and motivate warehouse and commissary staff in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm and effective under pressure.
- High attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy in inventory, documentation, compliance, and operational standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for providing clear direction, training staff, and liaising with management and other departments.
- Emotional maturity, professionalism, and respect for others, with a sincere, team-focused approach.
- Proficiency using basic office equipment and tools (e.g., calculators, telephones, printers, photocopiers, radios) and comfort with basic computer applications and inventory systems.
- Strong customer service mindset and the ability to support internal clients and event partners with a solution-focused approach.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 education and at least 1 year of related work experience in warehouse, food and beverage, or hospitality operations.
- Good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal.
- Smart Serve certification and minimum legal serving age as required in Ontario.
- Understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and basic cost-control practices.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and food safety specifications in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player and to build positive working relationships across departments.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on the Rogers Centre event schedule.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking throughout warehouse, commissary, and event support areas.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting of product and supplies, including cases of beverages, kegs, bins of ice, cases of bottles, and other miscellaneous items, within a very heavy lifting range.
- Frequent speaking and hearing in busy warehouse and event environments to communicate with staff and other departments.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for keying/fingering, operating office equipment, using radios, and handling documentation.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions, including refrigerated and non-refrigerated storage and warehouse spaces.
