Job Overview:

This client-facing role will be accountable for leading continued growth of IQVIA’s Biotech Solutions in APAC as well as overseeing operational success of global study programs and working closely with other members of IQVIA APAC’s senior leadership team to further innovate delivery models focused on speed, quality and consistency.

The primary responsibility for this role (>60% of time) will involve leadership of IQVIA’s APAC Biotech Solutions. This includes:

  • Regional accountability in driving engagements with new emerging biotech (EBP) customers across the APAC region and maintaining and expanding existing EBP customer relationships as the senior point of contact for new opportunities and customer management.

  • Oversee the APAC IQVIA Biotech project leadership teams for successful project and program delivery, as reflected in completed contractual delivery, customer satisfaction, and repeat business.

  • Advocates for an intentional, well-executed, integrated operations delivery model with global IQVIA Biotech and the broader RDS leadership to drive adoption of the IQVIA Biotech solutions.

  • Profit and Loss (P&L) management of IQVIA Biotech APAC ensuring optimal allocation of human, material, system and fiscal resources.

In addition to responsibilities as the head of IQVIA Biotech APAC, this role will have additional responsibilities in supporting quality, consistency and innovation of IQVIA APAC’s broader solutions in the region.

This includes Global project excellence and innovation (20% of time), including:

  • Working as a regional point of contact with IQVIA’s global project leadership team, ensuring visibility across critical multi-regional programs in pipeline, study status, scope changes and identification potential risk areas.

  • Driving resolution of regional customer delivery issues, escalations, financial commitments.

  • Representing APAC in global delivery initiatives and coordinating with other APAC IQVIA leadership team members to implement in region.

APAC regional delivery excellence (10% of time), including:

  • Working closely with APAC and global business operations leadership as a subject matter in reviewing consistency of delivery KPIs, study operational and financial health metrics.

  • Involvement in key initiatives to ensure consistency and achievement of APAC Research and Development financial and operational targets.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.  Approve actions on human resources matters.

  • Direct a broad segment of clinical operations staff assuring clinical project deliverables are achieved for each clinical role within span of control. Develop managers within area of accountability to develop staff along career progression goals and strategic departmental and corporate priorities.

  • Formulate effective strategic goals for clinical operations across regions/countries. Take ownership for strategic initiatives within assigned unit of accountability including development of measures for success.

  • Provide strategic leadership and approval for the clinical resourcing process and outcomes, clinical hiring targets and processes and onboarding and training standards.

  • Evaluate the quality of the clinical work product for clinical roles.  Evaluate workload, quality and budget metrics through regular analysis of data. Initiate action plans to improve efficiencies, project outcomes and quality metrics for clinical operation processes and roles.

  • Ensure projected net revenue and contribution margins, overhead costs and operating surplus. Play a leadership role in the budget development process and in the development of key fiscal outcome metrics.  Monitor the execution of the clinical budget for designated region via thorough analysis of ongoing outputs. Pro-actively develop forecasts and risk assessment in alignment with budgetary goals. Institute fiscal action plans when necessary.

  • Provide executive leadership for study teams when necessary to manage project related challenges and to achieve exemplary customer service.  Ensure the improvement of the execution of clinical project processes.

  • Drive quality or process improvement initiatives related to corporate or departmental strategic plans.  Provide leadership for clinical operations marketing and global sales activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Health care or other scientific discipline.

  • 17 yrs of clinical trials, clinical operations, and/or project management experience including 13 years experience in a leadership capacity.

  • Broad knowledge and ability to apply GCP/ICH and applicable regulatory guidelines.

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research financial parameters and project financial tracking and accounting methods.

  • Excellent leadership skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills Computer skills including proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including good command of English.

  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.

  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
