Overall Purpose
This role is a senior position accountable to build and lead Paze's Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization. The SRE organization’s primary goal is providing an excellent customer experience by ensuring the reliability of our systems and services. First and foremost, the person in this role must care about uptime and be able to dive deep into any issue that results in service interruption, no matter how minor. This role will also be accountable for shared services that do not live in a product vertical and will be expected to lead the creation of tooling that will enable engineering teams to be self-sufficient.
Essential Functions
Lead a high-performance team – provide exceptional leadership in developing highly engaged, high-performance teams to deliver against departmental and company objectives.
Develop platforms that support products – manage a team which owns the underlying supporting platforms that enable customer-facing products. Manage the DBAs that provide a service to the product engineering teams.
Be the voice of engineering efficiency– provide executive stewardship of engineering tooling and efficiency to make it as quick and easy as possible for product engineering teams to bring enterprise opportunities to life. Platforms will also require maintenance, uplift and modernization and should not become stagnant in favor of new development.
Be the voice of Systems Reliability - Provide the objectives, measurement, coaching and development for direct managers and indirectly across the SRE organization to ensure success. Attend RCA meetings and be a bar raiser in those meetings.
Influence company strategy – guide other departments in understanding technical solutions as necessary and helping them with defining ROI for related to proposed solutions.
Manage risk effectively – support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data by ensuring system and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology or related field.
15 or more years of experience in progressive technology organizations, including at least 10 years of leadership experience.
Experience in cloud environments and large-scale on-prem to cloud migration
Demonstrated experience running a high performing SRE team in a fast-paced, mission critical production environment
Demonstrated success developing and retaining highly engaged, high performing teams and aligning talent to meet business needs.
Demonstrated experience establishing and leading 24X7 on-call teams in engineering and hardware support teams with primary, secondary and tertiary schedules and relevant training
Experience with industry standard tools such as Splunk, Zabbix, Grafana, Pager Duty, App Dynamics etc.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with executive presence; ability to present and influence with leaders across the organization including executives
Influential leader of change and innovative solutions
Ability to think strategically and translate strategies into business plans which integrate across functions
Previous experience with P&L / budgets and annual financial planning

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $252,000 - $315,000.
San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $278,000 - $347,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
