Position Summary:

The Vice President, Epilepsy within our Neuroscience Therapeutic Business Unit (TBU) is a subject matter expert in epilepsy, responsible for supporting a robust and growing book of business. This leader will collaborate globally across functional groups to develop, expand, and deliver on our strategic and scientific vision for the therapeutic area.  The team is committed to its mission—to establish PPD/CRG as the industry leader in all aspects of neuroscience, and to secure, retain, and grow business within this dynamic and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership – Epilepsy Growth: Lead and execute the growth strategy for the Epilepsy book of business, driving business expansion through pipeline analysis, market assessment, and enterprise collaboration. Identify opportunities to align internal capabilities with evolving sponsor needs and scientific advancements.

Portfolio Oversight: Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of therapeutic studies, portfolios, and client engagements. Ensure operational excellence, scientific quality, and on-time delivery across the epilepsy portfolio.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership: Maintain expertise in the evolving scientific, clinical, and regulatory landscape for epilepsy, including biomarkers, digital endpoints, and precision medicine. Contribute to publications, presentations, and scientific forums to advance CRG’s visibility and leadership.

Cross-Therapeutic Integration: Collaborate with Neuroscience leaders to leverage synergies across related therapeutic areas, driving operational efficiency and innovation in study delivery and scientific approaches.

Business Development Partnership: Partner with Business Development to retain and expand key client relationships. Participate in strategic discussions, proposal development, and bid defenses to position CRG as a preferred partner in epilepsy research.

Operational Excellence & Risk Management: Implement systems and processes that ensure compliance, quality, and efficiency. Develop proactive risk mitigation strategies addressing operational, recruitment, and scientific challenges.

Financial Stewardship: Ensure effective management of budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets across programs. Drive resource optimization and fiscal accountability within the therapeutic portfolio.

Client Engagement: Serve as a senior point of contact and executive escalation for key clients, representing the TBU with professionalism, credibility, and scientific integrity.

Team Development: Mentor and develop therapeutic area talent, foster collaboration, accountability, and innovation across global teams.

Strategic Partnership Building: Engage with key opinion leaders, industry consortia, and advocacy networks to strengthen CRG’s leadership and partnerships in epilepsy research.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline required; advanced neuroscience background strongly preferred.
  • Deep and current knowledge of the scientific, clinical, regulatory, and competitive landscape related to epilepsy.
  • Strong global awareness and understanding of the development and delivery environment within neurological therapeutics.
  • Proven commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to translate strategies into therapeutic business unit profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrated executive presence, gravitas, and strategic influence across complex stakeholder networks.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead global cross-functional teams through change and growth.
  • Strong customer management skills, including the ability to engage at the executive level, navigate complex negotiations, and drive impactful client outcomes.
  • In-depth understanding of the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, clinical trial operations, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including excellent command of the English language.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
