VP, Modern Workplace Program Manager

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Modern Workplace Program Manager will lead planning and execution of workplace and digital workforce initiatives that support Synchrony’s US Hub Strategy and HR technology readiness programs (including Intern and BLP readiness). This role manages cross-functional workplace special projects spanning facilities/workplace services, AV/desk deployments, decommissions, technology transitions, and onboarding/offboarding logistics. The Program Manager drives end-to-end program governance including schedules, communications, floor plans, project documentation, system testing coordination, and KPI-based operational reporting.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and execute modern workplace programs aligned to US Hub Strategy and cross-functional business needs.

  • Manage project cost, schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and issue resolution across multiple workstreams.

  • Own program communications (status updates, stakeholder readouts, cutover communications, and readiness updates).

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including project plans, risk logs, meeting minutes, decision logs, reports, and change orders as needed.

  • Coordinate technology readiness planning for Interns and BLPs, ensuring timely provisioning, deployment, and onboarding experience.

  • Partner with HR, IT, and site stakeholders to align demand forecasting, schedules, and readiness criteria.

  • Support onboarding/offboarding programs including device logistics, access readiness tracking, and user communications.

  • Support and/or lead special initiatives across DEO/Frontline Experience/Digital Workforce, including programs.

  • Ensure project deliverables are aligned across workplace operations, technology teams, and end-user experience requirements.

  • Coordinate desk, office, and AV setups and (as needed) decommissions, ensuring operational readiness and minimal end-user disruption.

  • Hybrid role supporting US Hub locations; travel to hubs may be required based on project needs.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience working in technology program management or in lieu of a degree, High School/GED and 10+ years of technology program management.

  • 10+ years of experience leading technology projects/programs, with significant delivery experience in infrastructure initiatives.

  • Strong command of scope management, scheduling, dependency management, governance cadence, change control, and delivery metrics.

  • Experience applying Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches based on project needs. 

  • Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure domains: Compute (servers/virtualization/cloud foundations), AD/Identity concepts, Printers, Avaya Phones, AV Equipment, Network fundamentals (DNS/DHCP, routing/switching concepts, firewalls/load balancing concepts). 

  • Ability to engage effectively with engineers and translate technical details into business-impact terms. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence without direct authority across diverse teams 

  • Proficiency with common project delivery tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira/Confluence) and reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with ServiceNow is beneficial. 

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Program governance, scheduling, dependency management experience

  • Stakeholder management and executive-ready communications

  • Operational execution (deployments, moves/adds/changes, decommissions)

  • Documentation rigor (minutes, reports, change orders)

  • Process improvement and metrics-driven management

  • Strong coordination across IT (Compute/Network), Workplace Services, and HR

  • PMP certification (preferred) or equivalent credentials (PgMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2).

  • Experience delivering projects in regulated and/or security-sensitive environments with strong audit and control expectations.

  • ITIL Foundation (or practical experience with incident/problem/change management and operational transition).

  • Strong vendor management experience including SOW deliverables tracking, milestone-based execution, and escalation management.

  • Experience with cloud migration/enablement programs, identity lifecycle initiatives, or major network transformations.

  • Familiarity coordinating workforce-related technology changes with HR (e.g., onboarding/offboarding processes, identity governance integrations).

  • Banking, Finance or similar, highly regulated industry experience.

  • Experience coordinating vendor resources and third-party integrations.

  • Strong documentation and process improvement skills.

Grade/Level: 12

                                                            

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
