Jackson Accounts Team  
The Jackson team is responsible for overseeing the management of Jackson’s general account and is responsible for asset allocation, capital management, risk management and the evaluation of new asset classes. The team is focused on delivering outstanding investment results for Jackson while enhancing strategic collaboration with Jackson’s product, asset/liability management and actuarial teams.  The group also assists PPM’s Global Client Group in developing solutions to support third-party clients in the insurance channel.
 

Job Purpose

The VP, Investment Partnerships, Jackson Accounts is responsible for leading the communication and interaction with Jackson's external investment managers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Acts as principal point of contact between PPM and all external managers of general account assets.

  • Provides guidance on desired investment characteristics to external managers given Jackson’s product sales, liability characteristics, and other considerations.

  • Prepares and presents monthly content detailing external manager investment types, investment performance, and historical trends.

  • Updates PPM and/or Jackson professionals on issues that may arise with external managers from a partnership perspective, as well as any other concerns related to external investment managers.

  • Provides support for reporting and portfolio analysis, including preparation of required monthly and quarterly reports.

  • Ensures externally-managed investment portfolios adhere to investment guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Establishes and monitors the data feeds between external managers and PPM/Jackson to confirm accuracy.

  • Attends conferences and meetings sponsored by external managers, as appropriate.

  • Determines solutions for potential operational issues with external managers.

  • Directs searches for additional external managers or asset classes based on initiatives put forward by PPM/Jackson.

  • Partners with Quantitative and Risk Management professionals to provide Jackson with portfolio analytics which incorporate external manager investments.

  • Performs special assignments as required and occasionally acts as a business liaison on technology-oriented projects.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a record of professional and academic achievement required.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Previous experience working with external asset managers is preferred.

  • Broad understanding of a variety of asset classes, including high yield direct lending, residential mortgage loans, and asset-backed finance.

  • Previous experience with investment analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Excel, Aladdin, etc.

  • Knowledge of investment theory, capital markets, and the economy, with particular emphasis on fixed income markets.

  • Good understanding of the implications of investing for a life insurance / annuity company general account, including cash flow matching and statutory accounting rules, among others.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to deal effectively with people in a variety of relationships and situations, and work in a team environment.

  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field required.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience required.

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or pursuit towards either, is preferred

Base Pay:

$150,000.00 - $190,000.00. The base salary for this position may vary depending on experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary, this role will be eligible to participate in our annual bonus program and may be eligible to participate in our long-term incentives program. This role will also be eligible for compensated personal time off and holidays, health benefits, 401(k) plan with generous matching and other benefit programs according to the Company's employment policies and subject to the formal terms of such plans and programs.
