Job Description:
The Vice President, Integrated Media Planning assumes responsibility for a large integrated account across multiple channels to provide media and account leadership. The individual in this role is responsible for providing strategic direction and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of their client’s business as well as the overall technology/competitive media landscape.
The Vice President is responsible for cultivating client and media relationships specifically at senior levels. This individual is responsible for being the “ultimate” media consultant to the client and is charged with general management of the team, big-picture strategic thinking, all aspects of Media management and financial performance of the account. They should be an integrated media leader who understands communications planning, media strategy, media activation and can speak to both traditional and digital in the B2B landscape with ease. You will report to the SVP, Client Services and you must be able to be on-site in our offices in the San Francisco area two days a week.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead in managing the agency-client relationship. Direct the development of planning objectives and strategies that align with the client’s marketing objectives
Interpret research and provide insight and thought leadership that effectively translates brand marketing objectives into succinct media strategies
Research and implement new techniques and technologies that are relevant for clients’ media strategies
Oversee the analysis of program results and dialogue with client and internal team on informed strategic implications
Actively provide and discuss industry information on media, markets and related dynamics
Build and maintain relationships with media community; continue to develop partners and higher relationships for exchange of ideas
Effectively contributes client “case studies” to national organization
Identify and secure relationships with key senior clients to deepen agency relationship
Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
Actively represent dentsu media within industry (attending industry functions, joining local market committees), where applicable
Demonstrate a deep knowledge of client brands, brands equity, consumer definition and motivations
Initiate long-term projects for team that will contribute to greater agency revenue and/or employee learning and growth paths
Establish and maintain communications process with clients and agency service teams for each piece of business within the team
Direct the development of client presentations and other important communication, communication that is clear, compelling and persuasive
Lead client presentations where applicable and serve as a coach/example for team leads and supervisors to lead as well. Move audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
12 + years of media planning experience, which include progressive client management experience
Hands on knowledge for programmatic, search, social, mobile and media technology solutions
Deep understanding of digital media; understanding of traditional media as well. Deep understanding of how analytics can inform media plans
In-depth experience with B2B planning and media planning/execution
Extensive understanding and knowledge of media, business analytics methodologies, partners and frameworks
Extensive project and process management experience with large clients and high volume of activity
Ability to translate business problems into actionable media and non-media solutions for digital capability
Deep knowledge and experience with multiple communication channels and their role in brand marketing
Proven ability to think strategically, with a balanced analytical and creative approach, and the ability to teach others to think strategically
Ability to generate big ideas with strong motivational skills that can apply to all staff levels
Proven leadership ability – experience managing multiple groups of planners, supervisors and directors. Skilled leader of process and output that takes the client outside their comfort zone
Collaborative and able to successfully bring people from different disciplines, internal and external, together to achieve desired outcomes
Current knowledge of trends and innovations in media

The anticipated salary range for this position is $164,000-$200,000. Salary is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
