Job Overview:

The Vice President, EPMO Operations provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for the operational backbone of LPL Technology’s portfolio delivery framework. This leader is responsible for establishing and evolving enterprise portfolio operating rhythms, financial governance, and performance management practices that ensure transparency, accountability, and value realization across the technology investment portfolio.

This role oversees the EPMO Operations, Control Tower, and Change Management functions, ensuring alignment between technology investments, enterprise strategy, and delivery outcomes. The VP serves as a key partner to Technology, Product, and Finance leadership to drive operational excellence, strengthen portfolio governance, and continuously mature LPL’s enterprise program and portfolio management capabilities.

The VP, EPMO Operations is accountable for shaping scalable operating models, enabling data-driven decision making for executive leadership, and driving organizational change that supports LPL’s evolving technology and product delivery strategy.

This role reports to the Head of Technology Strategy and Operations, Vice President and leads a cross-functional team responsible for operational governance, portfolio transparency, and enterprise change enablement.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and continuously evolve the operating framework for LPL’s Technology portfolio, including governance structures, decision forums, and investment oversight mechanisms.

  • Own the portfolio operating rhythm (weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews) that drives transparency into investment performance, delivery health, and capacity across the Technology organization.

  • Partner with Technology, Product, and Finance leadership to ensure alignment between technology investments, strategic priorities, and measurable business outcomes.

  • Drive enterprise consistency in portfolio management practices, governance standards, and reporting frameworks.

Executive Investment Governance (Control Tower)

  • Lead the development, execution, and governance of the Executive Business Case (EBC) intake, review, and approval process, ensuring technology investments are aligned to enterprise strategy and value delivery.

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Control Tower function, enabling disciplined investment decisions and improving transparency across the technology portfolio.

  • Facilitate executive governance forums that evaluate technology investments, initiative performance, and portfolio risk.

Technology Business Operations

  • Lead the Technology Business Operations capability within EPMO, establishing scalable processes, standardized operating rhythms, and enterprise reporting frameworks.

  • Partner with FP&A and Enterprise Reporting to ensure financial transparency across the technology portfolio, including investment tracking, capacity insights, and portfolio performance.

  • Develop and maintain portfolio KPIs and operational performance metrics that enable executive leaders to make informed strategic decisions.

Operational Excellence & Portfolio Maturity

  • Drive continuous improvement of program management, portfolio governance, and delivery performance practices across Technology.

  • Identify opportunities to improve cross-team collaboration, operational efficiency, and transparency across product and technology delivery organizations.

  • Implement scalable tools, frameworks, and governance models that strengthen portfolio planning and execution.

Organizational Change Leadership

  • Establish and lead the EPMO Operational Change Management function, supporting enterprise adoption of new processes, operating models, and technology tools.

  • Develop comprehensive change strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, and communication frameworks that drive adoption across Technology and Product organizations.

  • Implement training, communications, and feedback mechanisms to sustain operational improvements and change adoption.

Executive Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technology and product leaders on governance, operational strategy, and portfolio performance.

  • Facilitate leadership forums, operating reviews, and cross-functional governance meetings that support effective decision making and strategic alignment.

  • Provide executive-level insights into portfolio health, investment performance, and delivery outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Project Management, Technology Management, or a related field

  • 10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Technology Operations, Technology Strategy, Portfolio Management, or Enterprise Program Management

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise portfolio governance and investment oversight for large technology organizations

  • Proven success establishing operating models, governance frameworks, and portfolio management practices at scale

  • Experience implementing organizational change management initiatives within technology or product organizations

  • Strong executive communication, influence, and stakeholder management capabilities

  • Ability to translate complex portfolio performance data into strategic insights for senior leadership

  • Strong working knowledge of portfolio management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Aha!, Confluence, or similar platforms

  • Experience working closely with finance, product, and engineering leadership in large-scale technology organizations


 

Pay Range:

$130,012-$216,686/year


 

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
