Roles Summary/Purpose:
Synchrony is hiring a VP, Enterprise Strategy and M&A to support both Strategy leadership and M&A executives in tackling some of the biggest questions facing the firm and the industry. Today, Synchrony is a premier financial technology company focusing on providing end-to-end credit solutions to our business partners and the end consumer. It is the largest underwriter of Private Label Credit Cards in the United States in addition to providing point of sale finance to retailers and health care providers.
This role will ultimately report into the SVP of Enterprise Strategy and M&A, and split their time across both areas. The role will focus on addressing enterprise level strategic questions and growth initiatives, managing the broader annual strategic planning process, and evaluating and executing M&A opportunities. Management will work collaboratively with the individual to help prioritize these efforts on an on-going basis.

Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Strategy leadership and business executives to tackle some of the most ambiguous and challenging questions facing our industry and approach solving these problems through a data-driven, analytical approach
Assist in managing the annual strategic planning process that will create the long-term strategy for the business
Support M&A leadership in identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities – e.g., identify targets that fit with strategy, develop investment theses, and support team in conducting diligence, financial modeling, negotiation and documentation
Work cross-functionally to ensure effective transition from strategy to execution and to evaluate and execute on M&A opportunities
Prepare detailed analyses and presentations for the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
Present to and communicate with senior leadership across a matrixed organization
Work with Platform Strategy and Leadership, Ventures, Network Partners, and other stakeholders to develop & execute an aligned strategy
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience in investment banking and / or consulting, including demonstrated experience working with a senior team (transaction experience is preferred – in banking or consulting); or in lieu of a Bachelor Degree, 7+ years of experience in investment banking and / or consulting, including demonstrated experience working with a senior team (transaction experience is preferred – in banking or consulting)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking and / or consulting, including demonstrated experience working with a senior team (transaction experience is preferred – in banking or consulting)
Minimum of 3 years project management experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in the use of MS Office product suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint
Strength in developing data-driven perspectives and presenting insights to business leaders
Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor Degree
MBA preferred
Experience at a top-tier Investment Bank and/or Experience at top-tier strategy Consulting Firm
Experience in Financial Services, specifically credit cards, is preferred but not required
Strong quantitative skills with experience creating data-driven recommendations and working on investment analyses
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional presentation skills and high emotional intelligence
Team player with experience and successful track record working in matrix environment with cross functional teams
Experience “managing up” to business executives
Flexible, collaborative approach and positive attitude
Entrepreneurial mindset
Project management skills with ability to manage multiple programs through a team-based approach in a fast-paced environment
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
