What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and strategic VP, Corporate Development to lead and drive mergers and acquisitions, strategic venture investments, and high-impact corporate initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in deal execution, corporate strategy, and fintech innovation. You will serve as a key leader within the organization owning the end-to-end transaction lifecycle, shaping our growth strategy, and partnering directly with the executive team to identify and capitalize on opportunities that accelerate the future of our business. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong leadership presence, exceptional judgment, and a proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of M&A transactions and strategic initiatives from target identification, due diligence, and deal structuring through negotiation, execution, and post-merger integration
- Drive the strategy and pipeline for Cross River Digital Ventures, including sourcing, evaluating, and managing venture capital investments in alignment with the company's strategic priorities
- Develop and own the corporate development roadmap, proactively identifying growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, and emerging market trends that align with the company's long-term vision
- Build and present compelling investment theses, financial models, and strategic frameworks to the executive team and Board of Directors to support critical decision-making
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on matters of corporate strategy, capital allocation, and market positioning
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Legal, Product, Compliance, Technology, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless deal execution and integration
- Manage and mentor junior team members (Analysts and Associates), fostering professional development and building a high-performing Corporate Development function
- Cultivate and manage relationships with external advisors, investment banks, law firms, venture partners, and target companies to expand the firm's strategic network
- Author and deliver executive-level reports, board materials, and strategic memos that clearly articulate opportunity assessments, risks, and recommendations
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, venture capital, management consulting, or a related strategic finance role
- Demonstrated track record of leading and closing M&A transactions and/or strategic investments from origination through integration
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear strategic recommendations
- Exceptional communication and executive presence with a proven ability to influence and advise C-suite leadership and Board members
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision with near-term execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
Nice to Have:
- Direct experience in the fintech, banking-as-a-service, or financial services technology sector
- Established network within the venture capital, startup, or innovation ecosystem
- Experience with post-merger integration planning and execution
- Familiarity with regulatory considerations relevant to banking, payments, or lending partnerships
- Prior experience at a high-growth or technology-driven financial institution

Salary Range: $200,000.00 - $225,000.00
