About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic, enterprise-minded leader to join our team as VP, Corporate Communications. In this role, you will serve as the enterprise leader responsible for all aspects of corporate communications, public relations, reputation management, M&A communications, and community investment across Element. As a senior enterprise leader, this role shapes and governs Element’s global communications strategy in support of the organization’s strategy, growth, and team member experience. The VP serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Committee, ensuring disciplined, aligned, and high-impact communications across all stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the global corporate communications and PR strategy in alignment with Element’s business objectives, growth trajectory, and team member experience.
  • Develop and implement an integrated enterprise communications strategy that aligns internal and external messaging to Element’s Purpose, Values, and strategy.
  • Establish governance, standards, and crisis protocols to ensure disciplined, consistent messaging across regions and business units.
  • Oversee all public relations activities globally, including proactive media strategy, executive visibility, and thought leadership.
  • Lead enterprise communications strategy for acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic transactions.
  • Lead best-in-class CEO and executive communications across all platforms.
  • Present to the Board on brand health, reputational risk, communications strategy, crisis preparedness, and community investment impact.
  • As the executive sponsor of Community Investment, oversee the Community Investment strategy in alignment with Element’s Purpose.
  • Lead a team of communications, stakeholder experiences, and creative services professionals.
  • Provide guidance and direction to direct reports, mentor and develop to help them grow in their roles and achieve their career goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in corporate communications, communications management, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership in corporate communications or public relations.
  • Experience supporting senior executives, including CEOs, in high-visibility communications with refined influencing and stakeholder management skills including superior writing, editing, and messaging development skills across multiple formats and channels.
  • Experience operating within a publicly traded, complex, or high-growth organization, with demonstrated experience leading M&A communications and supporting IR activity.
  • Proven track record in reputation management and crisis leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data, analytics, and digital tools to measure communications effectiveness and inform strategy.

  • Strong executive presence with experience presenting to Boards of Directors and executive committees.
  • A flexible, organized, agile style and unwavering focus, with an ability to adjust to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • A resilient self-starter, the ideal candidate effectively manages complexity and is comfortable with ambiguity, demonstrating pragmatism and creativity.
  • Experience building and leading inclusive teams with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Expertise in developing integrated communications strategies that align internal and external messaging with business objectives.

Location: Toronto

The hiring base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $250,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
