Job Description:
The VP, Commerce & Retail Media will lead a very large portfolio client, ensuring exceptional campaign execution and performance. They will manage a team of 8-10, acting as a business lead and driving the overall strategy for each client engagement.
The VP will ensure high-quality work through strategic oversight, while balancing best practices, a focus on operational efficiency, and flawless execution.
The VP will deliver consistent thought leadership to enhance Carat's reputation as a retail leader and expert.
As a key member of the leadership team, the VP will collaborate with senior management to effectively manage resources and foster talent. The role includes assisting with driving organic growth by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities and assisting management with future-proofing the business by providing feedback on market trends, staffing and platform needs, or other opportunities.
Key Accountabilities:
• Autonomously manage a team of 8-10 retail and paid search experts across 15-20 retailers and multiple brands and campaigns
• Oversee client relationships, campaign execution, and independently manage/lead the team
• Deliver forward-thinking digital (retail search, offsite retail, retail DSP, paid search) strategies proactively to the portfolio and ensure cross-channel collaboration and consistency with teams across all digital platforms
• Drive strategy for client engagements and provide oversight to ensure high-quality work
• Collaborate with senior management to manage resources effectively
• Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities for organic growth
• Engage with clients to assess account health and set strategic goals for improvement and growth
• Ensure adherence to client contracts/SOWs, helping with feedback on staffing plans
• Foster awareness/education about dentsu tools and products among the broader team
• Ensure the team follows defined processes for campaign management and enforce risk-mitigation controls for hands-on-keys activation work
• Develop a reputation as a consultative leader internally & externally
• Drive culture of continuous improvement
• Have peripheral knowledge of all campaign details and be able to help team with client tactical recommendations and reporting outputs
• Contribute to thought leadership pieces on a weekly basis that helps keep client up to speed on ever-changing digital and landscape
• Identify ways to bring automation into team processes
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years’ experience within the digital industry, 5+ years’ experience either working for a Retail Media Network or a brand executing retail media
• Proven track record of converting retail media into business results
• Demonstrable knowledge of the US retail environment, including the AdTech required to execute retail media advertising. Strong experience across all RMNs and ability to eloquently speak to each.
• Nice to have: specific experience activating on Amazon, Walmart, and Target/Roundel
• Experienced leader with proven history of leading highly successful teams
• History of developing positive, ongoing client relationships, with strong focus on client service
• Experience in managing complexity across multiple brands and interagency partners
• Demonstrated ability to see “the story” or “the big picture” to drive organizational and client success
• Consistent, exceptional project management with ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Persuasive verbal and written communications, excellent presentation and analytical skills
• Collaborative mindset
• Exude professionalism in all situations
• Solutions orientated with strong critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical thinking and mathematical skills
• Proficient in DSPs, ad servers, ad verification platforms, planning/financial platforms, analytics & reporting dashboards, etc.
• Willingness for occasional travel to client meetings, conferences, and in-person team meetings
• CPG experience preferred but not a must have
• NYC based candidates preferred but not required
