Organizational Overview:

The Vice President of AI Automation will function as the leader of a team of multidisciplinary AI teams responsible for building and maintaining a scalable, secure, and flexible AI automation platform that integrates with existing enterprise systems and data architectures. This person will also oversee the design, development, and deployment of intelligent agent systems. The role will report to the SVP of Innovation, Payments and AI.

The Vice President of AI Automation will be a key leader responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive AI automation strategy that spans Agentic AI Systems, Enterprise Agent Development, and Robotic Process Automation across the organization. This role requires a visionary leader to build and scale an automation platform that enhances operational efficiency, drives innovation, and supports emerging Agentic Commerce initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with stakeholders across business and technology teams to deliver intelligent automation solutions that transform customer experiences and optimize enterprise workflows while ensuring compliance and governance in a complex financial services environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Define and execute the enterprise AI automation strategy aligned with the institution’s broader digital transformation goals. 

  • Build and scale a robust automation platform that supports Agentic AI systems, RPA, and enterprise agent development.

  • Lead and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary team of AI engineers, developers, and automation specialists.

  • Build and maintain a scalable, secure, and flexible AI automation platform that integrates with existing enterprise systems and data architectures. 

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and automation trends to continually evolve the platform and leverage state-of-the-art solutions. 

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of intelligent agent systems that drive operational efficiency and enhance customer experiences. 

  • Innovate on autonomous and semi-autonomous agents to support both front-office and back-office operations. 

  • Foster collaboration across business units to identify automation use cases and deploy enterprise-grade agent solutions. 

  • Lead the RPA strategy and implementation, focusing on end-to-end automation of complex workflows and processes. 

  • Ensure best practices in governance, security, and compliance are maintained in all automation initiatives. 

  • Collaborate closely with commercial, product, and technology teams on Agentic Commerce projects, leveraging AI agents to enhance client engagement, product recommendations, and transactional workflows. 

  • Drive innovations that integrate automation capabilities into commerce platforms, improving speed and personalization. 

  • Partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the institution to advocate for AI automation initiatives and secure buy-in. 

  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in automation adoption. 

  • Work with multiple co-located and distributed teams (off-shore and on-shore) 

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology or, in lieu of the Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology .

  • Deep understanding of Agentic AI, Enterprise Agent Development, and Robotic Process Automation technologies. 

  • Experience driving enterprise-scale automation platforms with a focus on scalability, security, and compliance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology or, in lieu of the Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology 

Work Timings: 9 AM to 5 PM EST  

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
