ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ongoing recruitment and sole discretion for the hiring, on going support of, and the termination of volunteers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the volunteers are placed in appropriate areas.  Ensures fitness for the area and competencies are in place.
  • Ensures that all requested assignments are within the guidelines of regulatory agencies and not in conflict of wage and hour laws.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and assigns volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and/or mentors.
  • Maintains files, records, applications, competencies, and other data concerning volunteer program.
  • Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
  • Responsible for the volunteer engagement activities
  • Verifies and writes letters of hours served and recommendations based on interactions and reviews.
  • This position may require weekend and night coverage, as well being available for phone calls during volunteer hours -7 a.m. – 12 a.m.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Oversee assigned staff as needed.

One or more years’ experience with volunteer coordination in a hospital setting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) preferred.
  • BLS certification preferred

Pay Transparency

The hourly rate range for this position is $31.00 - $46.50. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, State, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator will administer all aspects of the hospital’s volunteer program. Which includes recruiting, training, supervising volunteers and managing all volunteer programs (this is inclusive of the adult and student programs as well as pet therapy).
