About the Job
The Manager, Visual Inspection Operations provides hands-on leadership and strategic oversight of 1st shift visual inspection operations within a regulated vaccine manufacturing environment. This role is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance while fostering a culture of ownership, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is an experienced visual inspection leader who sets clear expectations, holds teams accountable to defined standards, and drives measurable performance improvements. This individual brings strong technical knowledge of manual and automated inspection processes and leverages industry best practices to strengthen systems, elevate inspector capability, and enhance operational efficiency.
This leader serves as a change agent—developing talent, improving processes, reinforcing right-first-time execution, and elevating inspection excellence across the shift.

Main Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
Lead visual inspection operations during 2nd shift.
Establish clear expectations and drive accountability across the team.
Coach, develop, and mentor inspectors and frontline leaders.
Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
Foster a culture of engagement, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, EU Annex 1, and regulatory requirements.
Review batch records and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Lead preliminary deviation investigations and support root cause analysis.
Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
Maintain inspection standards and ensure audit readiness.
Operations & Continuous Improvement:
Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet throughput and quality targets.
Drive efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and process optimization initiatives.
Implement best practices from industry benchmarking and prior experience.
Lead or support automation initiatives for visual inspection systems.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Health & Safety:
Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to company safety policies.
Participate in incident investigations and safety walkthroughs.
Promote safety culture and compliance with HSE standards.
About You
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of direct visual inspection experience in a GMP-regulated environment. Experience in pharmaceutical or biologics manufacturing and team leadership experience.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Strong knowledge of cGMP requirements and quality systems.
Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and performance improvement.
Experience leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Experience leading visual inspection operations across multiple organizations or sites.
Proven success implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, or compliance.
Experience with automated or semi-automated inspection systems.
Knowledge of iSHIFT, eBR systems, or inspection management software.
Demonstrated success developing high-performing inspection teams.
Work Schedule:
2nd Shift.
Coverage may include weekends and holidays as required

The salary range for this position is:
