Position Summary
The Visiting Scholar will support research activities in plant production systems and laboratory analyses within the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering. This position involves hands-on work in both nursery and laboratory settings, contributing to data collection, analysis, and presentation of research findings.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Care and Data Collection (20%)
Potting, irrigating, fertilizing, and collecting growth data on plants at the nursery.
Laboratory Maintenance (20%)
Assist with laboratory organization, inventory management, and routine maintenance tasks.
Laboratory Analyses (20%)
Perform water sample collection and preparation, analyze physical properties of growing media, and conduct chemical calibrations.
Molecular and Microbial Analysis (20%)
Conduct DNA extractions and microbial community analysis.
Data Analysis and Presentation (20%)
Analyze experimental data and prepare reports or presentations for internal and external audiences.
