Job Description:

The Department of English at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in American literature, beginning July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 with a 3/2 teaching load. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated research record and should have experience teaching undergraduate students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. Courses will include the department’s introduction to literary analysis, pre-1900 American literature as well as in the candidate’s area of expertise. PhD or ABD required.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, two sample syllabi, research statement, and teaching statement. Reference letters will be requested at a later date in the process. Minimum starting rate of pay: $75,000.
