We are currently inviting applications for a Permanent Part Time Dietary Aide to join our Food Servies Team.

This posting is for a current permanent part-time vacancy within our Food Services Department.

This position is unionized and governed by the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Compensation, Benefits & Pension

Hourly rate: $22.571- $23.314 per hour (all new hires start at the starting rate, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement)

• This gives transparency about the potential progression without misrepresenting the immediate starting pay.
• Protects you legally and is consistent with CUPE / ESA requirements.
• Shift premiums in accordance with the Collective Agreement
• Comprehensive benefits package or percentage in lieu of benefits, where applicable
• Participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Food Service Worker program approved under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 
  OR 
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills for food service in a long-term care home, including: 
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an institutional, health care, long-term care, retirement, or hospitality food service setting; and 
• Demonstrated knowledge of: 
  • Therapeutic and texture-modified diets 
  • Safe food handling and sanitation 
  • Infection Prevention and Control practices 
  • Mealtime assistance and resident-centred dining 
• Current Food Handler / Safe Food Handling Certificate from a recognized provider. 

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. 
• Physically able to perform the duties of the position. 
• Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
• Experience working with older adults and persons with cognitive impairment is an asset. 
• Italian language skills are an asset. 

Key Responsibilities

• Follow established work routines and schedules for meal service. 
• Prepare and serve meals and nourishments in accordance with therapeutic diets, texture modifications, allergies, and resident preferences. 
• Set up and clean dining rooms, serveries, and food service areas. 
• Deliver meal carts and trays at safe and appropriate temperatures. 
• Assist residents with eating and drinking, using safe feeding techniques as required. 
• Observe and report changes in resident appetite, intake, swallowing ability, and dining behaviours to the Registered Staff and/or Dietitian. 
• Maintain accurate documentation related to meal service and resident intake as required. 
• Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control practices at all times. 
• Follow safe food handling and sanitation procedures. 
• Perform all other related duties that contribute to the team approach to resident care as assigned. 

Additional Requirements

• Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening issued within the last six (6) months, in accordance with the 
  Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021. 
• Compliance with Villa Colombo Toronto immunization and tuberculosis screening requirements.
