Major Duties:

  • The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base, CA is searching for a Video Teleconference SME to support 61 CS (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 equivalent). Description: Join the 61st Communications Squadron at Los Angeles Air Force Base and play a pivotal role in supporting the critical Space Systems Command (SSC) mission as our Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Subject Matter Expert. We are seeking a seasoned professional with extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing mission-critical VTC services across Unclassified and Classified networks within the DoD environment. In this high-impact position, you will flawlessly facilitate high-visibility VTCs for General Officers and high level Government Officials, relying on your ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex audio-visual and system failures under pressure. The role requires a strong technical foundation in secure communication protocols and the integration of VTC platforms within sophisticated mission environments. In addition to technical delivery, you will manage vital programmatic and acquisition requirements, evaluating modern solutions and emerging technologies to ensure the seamless, secure communication capabilities required by our space acquisition warfighters. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for the Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) position will be a seasoned professional with extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing mission-critical VTC services across Unclassified and Classified networks within the Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This technical foundation must include a strong understanding of security protocols, AES encryption, and secure, approved DoD communication standards, alongside deep knowledge of system design and integrating VTC platforms with complex room AV equipment and existing IT infrastructure. The individual must possess the executive presence to flawlessly facilitate high-visibility VTCs for General Officers and the Pentagon, paired with the critical ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex audio-visual and network failures under high-pressure situations. Beyond technical execution, the role requires a strong background in IT program management and acquisition, including gathering technical lifecycle costs, evaluating solutions, and drafting technical Statements of Work (SOW). This subject matter expert will be responsible for forecasting resource requirements, managing vendor relationships, and integrating emerging technologies to ensure the continued efficiency and security of VTC operations for the warfighter. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts, methods, advancements, policies, design, development, testing and applications, both hardware and software sufficient to assess the organization's IT business requirements and convince management toward a specific course of action. 2. Knowledge of the organization's policy and planning formulation process along with its missions, goals, and objectives to prepare IT polices and plans. 3. Knowledge of acquisition requirements, budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements. 4. Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments. 5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
