Vice President Specialised Lending Transaction Management

The role
We have a great opportunity to join Specialised Lending Transaction Management as Vice President. Specialised Lending Transaction Management is the center of expertise for all structured credit transactions originated with clients of WB Sectors. We are a team of 25+ skilled and well-rounded bankers of all seniority levels, which allows for the best deal outcomes for both client and bank.

This is a senior lending professional role within the front office. As player-coach, you will carry primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to lending transactions: (i) you work closely with the client relationship managers and sector experts to originate new lending transactions and (ii) you guide junior bankers that help structuring and executing these transactions. The work will be fast-paced and multifaceted. On the team, you will focus on Energy as your core Sector, but you will also be exposed to, and expected to work with, one other sector in which ING specialises.

The role involves regular contact with clients, prospects, other banks, technical and legal advisors as well as frequent cooperation with internal departments such as Credit Risk Management, Legal, and Deal Execution.


Responsibilities

  • Supervising of and writing Greenlight memos, presentation and discussion with Risk Management
  • Preparing and efficient processing of credit approval packages, including preparing and reviewing due diligence including summarizing and performing analytics
  • Captaining Deal Teams and guiding a transaction from Greenlight through closing
  • Negotiating and reviewing term sheets and legal documentation and validating key terms & conditions to ensure these reflect the credit approval conditions and otherwise balance risk appetite in the optimal way;
  • Building and creating financial models with sensitivity analysis and validation of key assumptions
  • Attending meetings and calls with clients including on transaction-related due diligence
  • Running internal models including risk ratings and loan pricing, and interfacing with risk management to establish the appropriate internal risk rating and risk appetite
  • Cultivating a cohesive team environment by consistently providing guidance, mentorship and training to support and develop new and junior team members
  • Ensuring a consistent level of quality and policy compliance
  • Analysis of different transaction structures and providing recommendations
  • Preparing business comparables and analysis of debt structures, performance metrics and debt ricing
  • Staying current on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly
  • Enhancing internal processes, suggest efficiency improvements

Qualifications and Competencies
Education

  • Master’s degree in finance/economics/accounting/management/engineering (or similar); CFA a plus

Experience / Knowledge

  • 5+ years of relevant WB lending experience as well as significant Energy sector-related field experience

Competencies

  • Strong interest and prior experience in the Energy sector and openness to work with at least one other sector
  • Experience in corporate, project and/or object finance loan origination and execution
