Vice President Sales - UK & Ireland

The Opportunity:

Position Summary

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for accelerating growth and driving customer engagement with full accountability for the UK and Ireland business. The Vice President will lead a large commercial team to position Avantor as a leading provider of laboratory products and solutions. The Vice President will partner closely with functional peers in portfolio, supply chain and strategic accounts to drive effective commercial execution and new and existing customers within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global sales strategy, including serving as the face of Avantor to key external customers and partners in order to drive revenue growth.
  • Drive sales for the regional’s business, developing strategies for product lines and target accounts leveraging an in-depth understanding of customer organizations, new innovations and Avantor’s differentiated portfolio offerings.
  • Evaluate the organizational structure and align talent and capabilities to the growth strategy with a strong focus on enterprise talent development, succession planning and training initiatives.
  • Align Avantor with customers’ innovation objectives/goals to drive future value creation. Monitor and analyze the competitive space, consider impacts on strategic positioning and disruption opportunities.
  • Develop, drive, and nurture acquisition of new business by actively expanding services to current clients, and introduction of new clients into the Avantor ecosystem.
  • Develop key regional relationships and facilitate new product introductions to end customers.
  • Monitor and drive customer satisfaction. Work cross-functionally to enhance customer experience and resolve challenges and issues as they arise.
  • Build, mentor and develop a team of high-performing sales professionals while fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate relevant customer and market information cross functionally within the organization.    
  • Develop and implement tools to empower the commercial team’s efficient performance.  
  • Set, communicate and enforce standards of performance including various reporting requirements (Expenses, monthly reports),    
  • Provides leadership and direction for significant deviation events that may impact contract compliance status or significant business risk. 
  • Leverage the Avantor Business System and a strong continuous improvement mindset to lead rigorous funnel management and capture voice of the customer. Consistently look for opportunities to improve process, people and technology to drive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of significant commercial experience in the life sciences sector across a variety of product lines. MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Sales Management role leading commercial teams.
  • Strong ability to understand market trends and identify customer needs.
  • Self-assured, mature, and well-balanced personality, with excellent leadership, coaching and team building skills.
  • Language skills: English, other languages are a plus.
  • Strong and pragmatic execution focus and resilience.
