Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Pension Operations, Engagement and Strategic Initiatives, the Vice President, Pension Communication, Engagement Transformation and Strategic Initiatives will oversee pensions strategy execution and the communications function as they transform the way we engage with members and employers into 2030 and beyond. The role will also work closely with leaders across Pensions to shepherd delivery of major initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Provide enterprise leadership and accountability for the Pension Communications, Engagement Transformation and Strategic Initiatives, ensuring alignment with OMERS long-term priorities and pension promise
Lead the development, execution, and ongoing stewardship of the departmental strategy, serving as a key champion of the Pensions 2030 strategy
Lead the transformation of the Pensions Communications function in coordination with Pensions broad modernization efforts; innovate to ensure that future generations of members are positioned to receive the information they need, how and when they need it
Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
Leverage modern communications channels to ensure the delivery of simplified, personalized communications across member segments
Define, monitor and report key performance metrics across teams
Develop and execute a vision for OMERS Pension brand and engage with teams across OMERS to ensure consistency in voice
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating complex pension concepts into clear narratives that support enterprise decision‑making and change initiatives
Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
15 years of progressive experience in senior corporate communications roles
University degree in communications related field
Exceptional writing and editing skills
A strategic mindset with a desire to move quickly to execute on key decisions and ability to translate long-term strategic vision into actionable, measurable plans that align with the organizational goals
Demonstrated experience interpreting analytics and key metrics to report results
Proven ability to build, develop and inspire a high functioning and engaged team
Action-oriented, possessing a high degree of initiative with ability to deliver results and motivate in high pressure situations and against deadlines
Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills and ability to build trust and consensus with internal stakeholders, in order to achieve results
Proven experience engaging and influencing Csuite leaders, serving as a strategic advisor who guides senior executives toward the preferred path forward by weighing risk, opportunity, and organizational impact
Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
