The Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) works in close partnership with the Chief of Medical Affairs (CMA) to ensure that Marshall consistently delivers safe, effective, and high-quality care. This role blends clinical leadership with hands-on operational involvement and plays a central part in shaping both clinical performance and the strategic direction of medical services.
A core responsibility of the VPMA is cultivating strong, trusting, and collaborative relationships with the medical staff. Serving as the primary liaison between medical staff and operational leadership, the VPMA ensures that physician perspectives are fully represented in decision-making and that clinical services remain high-quality, patient-centered, and aligned with organizational goals. This includes proactively engaging medical staff leaders, listening and responding to physician concerns, and fostering a culture of partnership, accountability, and mutual respect.
The VPMA leads quality initiatives in collaboration with providers and operational leaders and drives clinical innovation—continually advancing care delivery by promoting evidence-based practices, modernizing clinical processes, and ensuring that Marshall remains current with evolving standards and emerging models of care.
Reporting to the Chief of Medical Affairs, the VPMA works closely with the Chief Executive Team (CET), Medical Staff Committee Chairs, Medical Dyad leaders, Medical Group leadership, and leaders across Nursing, Ambulatory Services, Population Health, Ancillary Services, and the Chief of Medical Staff (COS). Together, they ensure the delivery of high-quality medical care in the most professional, safe, innovative, and cost-effective way across the entire continuum of care.
