Vice President, Global Market Trading & ALM Department (GMTA)

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and manage FX spot and option trades across G10 and emerging market currencies, ensuring optimal pricing and execution quality.
  • Develop and implement proprietary trading strategies based on macroeconomic trends, and volatility surfaces.
  • Monitor and manage risk exposures in real time, ensuring adherence to trading limits and Value-at-Risk (VaR) thresholds.
  • Collaborate closely with sales teams and internal stakeholders to deliver customized FX solutions and provide two-way pricing and liquidity as a market maker in FX spot and options.
  • Contribute to the development of pricing tools, volatility models, and trading strategies.
  • Stay abreast of global economic developments, central bank policies, and geopolitical risks that impact FX markets.
  • Participate in regulatory reporting, internal audits, and ensure compliance with local and international trading regulations.
  • Support the onboarding of new products and trading platforms, including UAT testing and documentation.
  • Represent the FX trading desk in internal committees, governance forums, and client meetings when required.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must have a degree in quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or Actuarial Science from a recognized university/higher learning institution.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in FX Spot and Option trading, with deep understanding of FX markets, volatility structures, and option pricing models. A strong eagerness and commitment to learn is most important.
  • Proven ability to generate consistent trading profits while managing risk effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in trading platforms and analytical tools (example: Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and Eikon)
  • Professionalism and high ethical standards, with a dedicated approach to risk management and familiarity with Malaysian regulatory environment and regional market dynamics is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of management.
  • Mandatory: Possession of a valid PPKM (Pasaran Pertukaran Kewangan Malaysia) certification as required by Bank Negara Malaysia for FX market participants.
  • Additional professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are advantageous.
