Job Description
Ares is seeking a Vice President to join the Fund Launch, Onboarding and Wind-Down team (“FLOW”) in the New York office. The FLOW VP will be responsible for the strategic oversight, leadership, and operational excellence of the project management for fund launches and wind downs. The VP will be a key member of the team, overseeing junior team members, developing and optimizing processes, and working cross-functionally to support business growth.
This role is responsible for building and operationalizing FLOW processes, working cross-functionally across all Ares teams, and managing change. The successful candidate will be detail oriented and able to collaborate with various cross-functional teams to understand the challenges, dependencies, and needs of stakeholders.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience with complex fund structures, project management, and fund/legal entity data management. The candidate must be resourceful, innovative, forward thinking, collaborative, committed, and have excellent written and verbal skills.

Primary functions & responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Establish FLOW policies, procedures, and governance
Drive global standardization of processes across Ares
Responsible for management of junior team members
Fund Launch & Wind Down Project Management
Project Manage complex fund launches and wind downs using a standardized checklist
Understand requirements depending on fund type (Commingled, SMA, Co-Invest, etc.) and Jurisdiction (e.g. US, Cayman, Luxembourg, etc.)
Coordinate activities amongst stakeholders – including the Ares investor relations, legal, finance and accounting, operations, compliance, and tax teams, as well as certain third-party service providers
Continuous Improvement
Execute on projects to help enhance processes, provide cross-platform visibility, and improve upon datasets
Lead pilots and rollouts for new workflows and technologies
Suggest enhancements, automation, and other technology or tools to deliver a seamless experience to our internal stakeholders and external investors
Education:
BS/BA with degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or General Business preferred, with outstanding academic record
Experience and Skills Required:
10+ years of relevant work experience with private alternative funds, including project management experience
Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and managing external relationships
Proven ability to design, document and improve workflows and processes
Demonstrated ability to drive consensus among a diverse array of interests and priorities
Strong proficiency in Excel (e.g., complex formulas), PowerPoint, and Word (e.g., advanced formatting)
Experience with workflow and project management software
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Project, Visio, Salesforce, PowerBI, and Power Automate

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$180,000 - $220,000/annum
