An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vice President - Environment, Social and Governance (ESG)  to join the Team in Derby, Bristol or London. 

The Vice President – Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) role will report into the SVP Sustainability as part of the Rolls-Royce global Government Relations and Sustainability team.

The Vice President – Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is part of a global, multi-functional and passionate team, which is working at pace to identify, protect and create sustainability value to deliver Rolls-Royce’s vision and strategy.

This role is responsible for developing and operationalising global Rolls-Royce sustainability strategy, leading the delivery of Rolls-Royce’s ESG data and technology strategy and leading sustainability reporting, governance and regulatory compliance.

The Vice President – Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) will represent Rolls-Royce internally and externally, including representing on external working groups and interfacing with senior stakeholders across strategic environmental issues. 

What you will be doing:

Develop and operationalise global Rolls-Royce sustainability strategy

  • Work collaboratively across the One Rolls‑Royce sustainability community to develop and operationalise Rolls-Royce’s sustainability strategy.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and ensure effective delivery
  • Support the continued development and embedding of the Sustainability Operating Model, including data collection, management and control.

Lead the delivery of Rolls-Royce’s global, multi-year ESG data and technology strategy

Lead Rolls-Royce sustainability reporting and governance

  • Oversee sustainability data quality, accuracy, validation and controls
  • Act as secretary for the Rolls-Royce Sustainability Data and Governance Review
  • Produce the sustainability content for the Rolls-Royce Annual Report
  • Work with General Counsel to understand incoming ESG regulations
  • Lead the assessment of business impact of incoming ESG regulations and ensure Rolls-Royce meets global sustainability regulations.

Analyse sustainability data to identify value opportunities

  • Lead the global Rolls-Royce Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) process
  • Working with the policy team, lead sustainability input to Rolls-Royce policy
  • Investigate and interpret sustainability data, industry developments, and regulatory trends to identify risks, opportunities, and value creation pathways for the business.

Engage stakeholders and represent Rolls‑Royce externally

  • Produce and, in some cases, deliver sustainability related information to key stakeholders including Rolls-Royce Board and Executive Team.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, customers, NGOs, trade associations and government bodies.
  • Provide sustainability expertise for policy engagement, consultations, and industry initiatives.

Preferred requirements:

The Vice President – Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) will:

  • Highly collaborative and able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals and teams globally
  • Have excellent communication and influencing skills,
  • Be able to analyse/model complex data and convey information simply and concisely
  • Be able to apply strong business acumen to make balanced business decisions
  • Have demonstrated project and/or programme management skills
  • Have a sound knowledge of sustainability data, reporting and regulatory requirements
  • Have a high-level of autonomy and be able to guide others, including Sustainability Manager and early careers in their tasks
  • Be adaptable and able to respond to changing needs
  • Be passionate about sustainability.
  • Qualifications and experience of working in sustainability and/or strategy desirable.
