Equifax

Vice President, Engineering and AI

CAN - Ontario - Toronto Full time

Synopsis of the Role

As the Vice President of Engineering and AI for Equifax Canada, you will be a strategic leader responsible for bridging our Canada and global Technology teams with our specific market needs. Reporting to the CTO, you will drive a technical agenda focused on innovation, developer productivity, and platform excellence. You will be the single leader responsible for ensuring Equifax Canada is building future-proof capabilities with key partners, such as Google, and accelerating our time to market by leveraging cutting-edge AI and advanced engineering practices.

What You will do

You will be expected to deliver measurable results against the following strategic objectives:

  • Accelerate Time to Market: Significantly accelerate the time-to-market for engineering solutions and products, by building standardized capabilities that can be leveraged by Canadian Tech and Product leaders to directly impact our customer-facing segments in consumer, commercial, and fraud.

  • Drive 10x Productivity through AI Tooling: Define and implement the “right tooling for the right job” strategy to dramatically increase developer and QA productivity. This includes the successful deployment of AI-driven capabilities for code generation, static analysis, triage, root cause analysis and end-to-end test case automation.

  • Build Foundational Platform Capabilities: Own the technical strategy and roadmap for non-domain/business-specific platform capabilities (e.g., modern data platforms, service reusability, enterprise observability). These platforms must be scalable, secure, and designed to enable every application leader to be exponentially more effective. You will need to partner closely with the global tech teams to adopt common tooling where appropriate and make informed decisions on where to build local capabilities for Canada.

  • Portfolio Ownership: Own the end-to-end platform and engineering capabilities for one or more products in the consumer, commercial or fraud areas, and drive accountability for engineering excellence, time-to-market, and customer satisfaction.

  • Innovation: Build and nurture an environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, fail fast/learn fast, to significantly accelerate our ability to move from ideas/concepts to production ready products and services. Partner closely with Product and Sales teams to drive immersion sessions (internal and with partners) and hackathons to foster a culture of innovation.

  • Technical Strategy & Vision: Architect the technical vision for how Equifax Canada leverages AI/ML and advanced software engineering to solve complex challenges in credit, identity, and risk management.

  • Global and Partner Alignment: Act as the primary technical liaison to global engineering teams and strategic partners (e.g., Google) to ensure local product and engineering efforts are aligned with and leverage global infrastructure and emerging technology roadmaps.

  • Platform & AI Engineering: Lead the design, build, and scaling of mission-critical enterprise AI capabilities and the underlying platform infrastructure (MLOps, real-time data pipelines, API services).

  • Organizational Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class engineering organization that emphasizes security-by-design, operational excellence, rapid innovation, and a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee operational activities, ensuring resource plans, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met across your portfolio.

What Experience You need

  • Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role (VP/Director level). Experience in a highly-regulated industry (e.g., finance, credit, security) is strongly preferred.

  • AI/GenAI Expertise: Deep technical expertise in the modern AI stack, including Generative AI systems architecture, LLMOps frameworks, vector databases, and the ability to translate complex AI concepts into scalable production systems.

  • Platform Acumen: Proven track record of architecting and delivering non-domain specific platform capabilities that drive broad organizational efficiency (e.g., CI/CD, DevSecOps, cloud-native infrastructure, developer tooling).

  • Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of security practices, identity, access control, and regulatory compliance (e.g., data privacy) relevant to financial data and AI systems.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated history of collaborating with Product Management, Corporate Strategy, and executive stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and drive organizational change.

  • Global Acumen: Experience operating successfully within a large, global matrix organization, demonstrating the ability to influence and lead without direct authority across international teams.

What could set you apart

  • Demonstrated thought leadership through publication of technical blogs

  • Experience working in a regulatory environment

  • Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams
