The VP, Business Development is responsible for identifying education management opportunities, leading the bid process in close collaboration with Executive, Finance, Academics, Operations, and Human Resources leadership, and ensuring a successful launch plan.  The VP, Business Development represents the Company to external stakeholders and demonstrates ethics and integrity at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and nurture a network of charter school sponsors, district superintendents, and K-12 educational leaders
  • Maintain awareness of current and expected opportunities for new school launch and existing school management transition
  • Proactively communicate proposal requirements and timelines to departmental leads
  • Write and submit compelling proposals that reflect an understanding of all regulatory requirements and reflect the Company’s ability to implement successful products and/or services
  • Work cooperatively with department staff to solicit input and communicate key requirements
  • Travel on short-notice for in-person meetings with potential customers and stakeholders
  • Assume interim academic and/or operational leadership duties as needed
  • Identify and recruit potential board members in alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Education Administration
  • Minimum 15 years’ Sales and Sales Management experience in corporate and state/local government markets
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in education administration and/or education sales
  • Extensive track record of new business acquisition and account growth
  • Fluency in state-specific Standards and Common Core Standards
  • Fluency in state-specific education code
  • Understanding school law, including the implications on the educational program and on liability.
  • Track record of building positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders including regulators, customers, executives, and colleagues
  • Ability to problem solve in a thoughtful and analytic manner
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact at all times
  • Strong time management skills as reflected in effective work and adherence to deadlines on simultaneous projects
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed, including on short-notice
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks

The annual starting salary for this position is $145,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This is a bonus eligible position.
