Vice President Atrium Health Foundation NC & GA serves as the lead responsible for leading the strategic direction and philanthropic mission of the Foundation and is pivotal in advancing Atrium Health’s commitment to improving health outcomes and addressing disparities through impactful community investment and donor engagement.  This role also serves as the Chief Philanthropy Officer for Atrium Health.  Atrium Health Foundation (AHF) is the philanthropy arm of Atrium Health, part of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States.  With a mission to improve health, elevate home, and advance healing—for all, the Foundation engages grateful patients, corporations, foundation, and community partners to fuel transformational initiatives in patient care, research, education, and community health. 

Vice President Atrium Health Foundation NC & GA is the senior leader responsible for driving all aspects of philanthropy and fundraising across Atrium Health. Reporting to the Enterprise Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Foundation President will design and execute a comprehensive development strategy that supports system priorities and inspires donors to make meaningful and transformational investments. 

Acts as a visionary and strategic fundraising leader who thrives in a complex, mission-driven environment.  They will be responsible for growing philanthropic revenue, leading a high-performing team, strengthening donor engagement, and ensuring that philanthropy plays a central role in advancing the mission of Atrium Health.  They will also serve as a key leader within the Enterprise philanthropy function, adding value to our ability to do more together through philanthropy.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the principal executive and public face of the Foundation.
  • Develop and execute a strategic framework that aligns with Atrium Health’s mission and long-term goals.
  • Champion philanthropic principles and cultivate a culture of generosity and impact.
  • Partner with the Foundation’s Board of Directors to ensure effective governance.
  • Partner with senior volunteers to expand philanthropic reach and advocacy.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Lead major gift initiatives, donor stewardship, and community engagement strategies.
  • Oversee grantmaking protocols, including development, analysis, funding, and evaluation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, corporate partners, and community leaders.
  • Manage the Foundation’s staff and budget.
  • In concert with Advocate Health Enterprise philanthropy, ensure sound financial oversight, including review 
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team aligned with the Foundation’s values.
  • Foster collaboration, professionalism, and innovation across departments.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the Foundation’s work.
  • Act as a visible and trusted advocate for health equity and community well-being.
  • Represent the Foundation in public forums, media, and philanthropic networks.
  • Build trust and credibility with underserved communities and stakeholders

Education Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or other related field required.   
  • Proven track record in fundraising, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. 
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills. 
  • Deep understanding of health disparities and community-based impact strategies. 

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 10 years of senior leadership experience in philanthropy, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors.
