Here at VCA Wyoming Animal Hospital, we are a three-doctor, full-service, well-appointed, small animal (dogs & cats) general practice hospital located in the NE Heights of Albuquerque, NM.  We see a variety of medical cases ranging from wellness/preventative medicine, illnesses & injury, diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry.  We are conveniently close to Kirkland Air Force Base and Sandia National Labs.  Albuquerque is known for our annual International Hot Air Balloon Festival, and supports a wide variety of tech industry companies and a thriving film production industry.  Spreading out from the foothills of the Sandia Mountains, to the Rio Grande river valley, and the desert mesas to the west, there is a diverse variety of landscapes and activities to explore and enjoy. This position is a working supervisory position, which is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and mentoring of our technical staff.   As a member of the VCA team, your goal will be to help uphold our high standards of delivering an outstanding client experience—and providing exceptional care to every patient.  We are looking for someone who will lead by example, foster a positive and supportive team environment, and instill a culture of personal accountability and a desire for continual growth and improvement.

The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking Patient history, patient assessment, and physical examination
  • Assisting doctors and carrying out treatments
  • Laboratory work
  • Pharmacy
  • Administering injections
  • Blood draws
  • Catheter placement
  • Radiology
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Surgical preparation and assisting
  • Dentistry
  • Patient recovery
  • Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients
  • Providing excellent client service

In the supervisor role, you will be primarily responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Directing workflow on the floor
  • Technician/Assistant Scheduling
  • Assists in staffing and coverage where needed
  • Assists in the educational development of technicians/assistants and their skills
  • Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training
  • Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
  • Mentoring technical staff
  • Working with doctors/managers to develop protocols to improve service
  • Help with the interview process for potential new hires
  • Working with the management team to ensure that VCA polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays, and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The salary range for this position is $20 to $26, depending on experience
