What we want
The Veterinary Pharmacy Technician I assists in the efficient operation of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Pharmacy to provide quality patient care. They are responsible for clear communication with faculty, staff, students, and clients about pharmacy operations.
What you need to know
Salary: Starting at $17/hour, compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Location: College Station, TX
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime, with the occasional weekend required. On-call coverage may be required (weekends and holidays).
Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
One year of experience in a health-related field
Preferred Qualifications
Two years’ experience in a health-related field, with one year in a hospital pharmacy.
Associate degree in biomedical sciences or related field.
Licensed Pharmacy Technician
Knowledge in use of prescription balance
Basic pharmacy calculations
Responsibilities
Pharmacy Patient-Related Care: Accurately interprets, fills, and dispenses orders and prescriptions. Prepares and packages medications, pharmaceuticals, prescriptions, and returned goods for shipment. Assists to prepare pharmaceutically elegant, sterile, and stable products using scales, balances, hoods, and autoclave. Understands and is able to perform all the steps involved in the antigen program.
Pharmacy Operations: Check daily reports, verify sales, check discrepancies, and balances records. Maintain, control, and keep accurate records of controlled substances in the Cubex Machines, Small Animal Pharmacy, and Large Animal Pharmacy lock boxes. Adheres to laws and regulations governing the preparation, dispensing, and compounding of prescription drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products. Participates in the annual physical inventory as well as perpetual inventory. Assists in the expired drug program. Assists in maintaining and updating policies and procedures, signature lists, non-inventory lists, and labels. Maintains inventory on all pharmacy storage locations. Prepare schedule of pharmacy staff.
Communications and Public Relations: Interact with clients, faculty, staff, students, and administrators to ensure the highest standard of public relations communication. Interacts personally with in-house customers (faculty, staff, students, and hospital personnel) to ensure adequate and cohesive working relationships between pharmacies and other departments. Interacts with clients and the public in retail setting. Orients veterinary students and assists them to comply with pharmacy policies and procedures and prescription drug laws.
Equipment: Accounts for equipment checked out for use in clinics. Trains to be proficient in cleaning and using the endoscope equipment. Take call for after hour endoscope use. Manages Cubex dispensary machines in the hospital by providing general support, configuration, stocking, and training end users.
