Veterinary Inventory Coordinator at VCA Mueller

Compensation: $23-25/hr

VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center is a well-established, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency & general practice veterinary hospital in Sacramento, California. We are seeking a highly motivated full-time experienced and energetic Inventory Coordinator to join our Rock Star team! 

The successful candidate must be a team player with a can-do attitude, great attention to detail with excellent communication skills. This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday and requires at least 3 years’ experience managing veterinary supplies, pharmaceuticals and pet foods. Veterinary Technician experience preferred.

The Inventory Coordinator has a number of responsibilities many of which require daily monitoring and evaluation to make sure that the medical items are on hand when the doctors and support team need them.  Minimizing expenses by maintaining adequate stock levels without over purchasing by utilizing the VCA ordering system and guidelines as delegated by the Assistant Hospital Manager. Hospital Administrator and Medical Director. 

Duties specific to the position are:

  • Maintaining an adequate stock of all products used, dispensed and sold. 
  • Organizing inventory so items are easy to locate. 
  • Identifying products that need to be reordered, managing back order items by finding adequate replacement products as deemed appropriate by the Medical Director.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory records. 
  • Ordering, receiving, and inspecting shipments. 
  • Rotating stock and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with hospital staff by professionally communicating and dealing with concerns or problems, such as delay in and order being processed. 
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the available suppliers, vendors and delivery truck drivers who provide us the materials and support to market their products from pet food to veterinary pharmaceuticals. 
  • Conduct quarterly and annual inventory audits and monthly food log reporting. 
  • Maintain inventory records, inventory count spreadsheets, vendor files and track orders. 
  • Identify hospital use of various drugs and products on a regular basis to ensure adequate stock but not overstocking of items.
