Our Emergency Department is growing, and we’re looking for a Triage-Focused Technician to join our team as an ER Triage Technician.

This role is perfect for someone who is confident with patient assessment, enjoys communicating with clients, and wants to play a crucial part in patient flow, safety, and high-quality care.

Compensation: $20 - $26 / hour for a CVT. based on skill set, experience and licensure status. Experienced Veterinary Assistants welcome to apply.

What You’ll Do

As an ER Treatment Tech 1, you will be primarily responsible for triage and outpatient support, ensuring patients are assessed quickly and accurately so the ER team can make timely medical decisions.

Core Responsibilities:

Triage & Patient Assessment

  • Perform efficient triages, including:
    • Patient weight
    • Mucous membrane (MM) color assessment
    • Heart rate
    • Temperature
    • Respiratory rate/effort
    • Determining severity level
  • Complete triages within 3–5 minutes per patient once fully trained.
  • Enter vitals and triage findings into WoofWare and Instinct.

Client Communication & Flow Management

  • Partner with the CSR/Liaison team to update clients on wait times and patient status.
  • Support clear, compassionate, and timely communication.

Outpatient & ER Support

  • Assist with outpatient workups and treatments.
  • Discharge ER patients when appropriate.
  • Fill ER discharge medications when the pharmacy technician is unavailable.

  • Strong assessment skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with client communication in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining composure and accuracy.
  • Previous veterinary experience required; triage experience strongly preferred.
